I learned a hard lesson about helping others first. You must take care of yourself first, because few if any have the same vested interest in your life as you do. Second lesson is that you have to take care and protect yourself first before anyone else, or you are no good to anyone, even yourself.

That's not meant to be selfish, its just self preservation. Help another only when you have the ability and strength or else 2 people needing help in the end.

It is true though...my school was one of the top schools in the area, we had 800 students at the time...then it swelled up to 2000 students.

The test scores that year completely bottomed out, for the first time ever, a random student during lunch decided to break into a house, ran back into the school when alarms went off...the cops had to lock down the school and chase the kid around. Shots were fired, Windows busted open, from him trying to escape.

New rules were in place to have more surveillance on the door ways. More police drove around the school, so that now even taking a break at the small food/donut store across the street meant being pulled over and questioned...

Literally ruined school for me.....well...at least our Football Team won that year :I...I guess we traded smarts for brawn.

My buddies in Houston said their apartment went from mostly white and quiet, to black and loud.
