Anyone have to replace car battery or alternator?
I was wondering how many people have to replace car battery, because I just had to get a new alternator, about two other people I work with had to get new battery. Just mentioning this since we seem to be having a transformer problem/ power problem.

Re: Anyone have to replace car battery or alternator?
The electrical system in a car is not really susceptible to outside influences. Power transformers on the grid can blow during periods of instability in the ionosphere and for other reasons, but this is because they are hooked up to long lines which act as an antenna with a large cross section.

Batteries would be totally immune. My guess is bad luck

The Alternator is used for when your car is running it charges your battery.
Replacing a Battery is so easy just make notes of what is hooked up to what before you dismantle.
red/black
easy.
With the alternator same thing, just make notes of what you are taking apart. The hard part is getting the part. =p

It's either the battery, alternator or starter for me - - dead as a door nail this evening when I tried to start it (for the first time today) ... first thing I thought about was the grid and solar stuff.

Thanks, GLP!

Re: Anyone have to replace car battery or alternator?
Had to get a new battery Friday and my mechanic even mentioned how quickly I go through car batteries. Mine was on the verge of exploding, from a seriously crappy design flaw in my car. It's in a box, below the computer and keeps overheating, haven't been able to make it to the two year mark with one yet.
