Re: ~~~STRANGE HAPPENING ON LAKE WASHINGTON~~~
A bit more that may support the sub theory for this strange happening:

Lake Washington is the largest lake in western Washington.

The southern end of the lake is home to the Boeing Corporation’s Renton commercial aircraft plant where all Boeing 737’s, and 757’s are assembled. The Cedar River, one of two main tributaries, flows past the plant and enters the lake. The other tributary, known as the Sammamish Slew enters the lake at the northern end. The U.S. Navy made it’s home on the northwestern shores in an area known as Sand Point.

There is no way a sub can get into Lake Washington-the locks are too small, I could practically walk across the Sammamish Slough-it's more like an oversize drainage ditch, the Cedar River is at the southern most end of the lake-it's pretty small as well. You can tell 'Khim' is reading from some encyclopedia-if you live here-you know that no river-creek-slough running into the lake caused that ripple. Anyone with any boating experience knows-boats - ski-do's - even subs-leave V shaped wakes-not straight evenly spaced lines.

wrong:

I was stationed at sand point a few times - u could easily get a sub in through the locks - drive over to lake union and c the ships they bring in there for repair.

well not related at all to Lake Washington, which I enjoy when I was in Seattle for a month many years ago, (and enjoyed watching some pretty big ships going thru the locks as part of the tourist thing, thanks for the memory), there in an underground SUB base in Nevada, the under ground channels from the Pacific go that far inland.

Back to the issue of the "Strange Happening"--found these replies pointing to a possible tremor that caused a release of gas--includes a small map showing major fault lines in the Puget Sound:

Could have been a release of gasses caused by a small tremor? They need to keep an eye on the lake’s acidity.

I believe you’re on to something here, Linda, as is Eowyn.
As a former resident of the area [Bellevue, 1958-1963], and now here in British Columbia since 1969, I’ve learned about the many geologic events that shaped Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, and the Georgia Strait to what we know them as today.
There is a deep crack centered from Olympia through Puget Sound and passing under Victoria, BC. A lot of very disruptive gases pass from both these capital cities areas and these do indeed disturb all our landscapes, from the Creation to our mental states….
At present, the best is to pray as did our forebears: “Oh Lord, let this gas too pass, and make it soon!”

there is a lot of strange stuff in Nevada, but I have not heard that one - in her book "Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base", Annie Jacobsen, states that over 180 surface & 860+ underground nuke detonations have taken place since 1951, in Nevada. Who knows what's there?

You must be speaking of the old small 100 man diesel-electric submarines that used to come thru back in the 1940's during WWII-similar to the German u-boats-that makes you-how old?? That was 70 years ago! and if you were stationed there-you're around 65-70 years old (age not an issue-just interesting you're on GLP) The large lock is about 80 feet wide-800 some feet long-but it can only handle a draft of about 50 foot. No way can it handle the modern sub's---check out sub that came thru in 1947-the Tilefish. That's about as big a sub that could come thru. see link below
It sounds like while you might have been around the area a bit-no way you lived around there-between me & my other half-we've lived in the area our whole lives-we are pretty much aware of what goes thru the locks.

The navy has subs that can go through the locks - I wasn't talking about a Trident - I was windsurfing off Whidbey Island, it was longer than a football field.

I heard of this recently too, but don't have the time to look into it yet. By the way, what's your perspective on the book, I was thinking of buying a copy?

I found a couple of other thoughts on what this could be--can sturgeon really grow that big?

"a small seismic event, upwelling or a mixing of warm and cold water, tunnel boring in the U-District (assuming location/time appropriate), or perhaps someone has a new submersible"

"How soon all the old timers forget: November 1987, a 900lb, 11 foot long sturgeon washed up in Kenmore. Theories were that it was one of two Sturgeon released after display at the Alaska-Yukon Exposition in 1909. Sightings over the years coincided w/ the estimated growth rate. This could be the other one 24 years later and now maybe 1400 lbs and 19+ feet long......"

I remember the one in 1987, not that much interest as I remember - I have friends that catch them in the columbia river gorge - they have to b a minimum of 3 feet & a max of 6 feet - anything under or over goes back.

Puget Sound is home to the largest octopus in the world, but they don't go into fresh water, couldn't get by the locks.
