I found a couple of other thoughts on what this could be--can sturgeon really grow that big?
"a small seismic event, upwelling or a mixing of warm and cold water, tunnel boring in the U-District (assuming location/time appropriate), or perhaps someone has a new submersible"
"How soon all the old timers forget: November 1987, a 900lb, 11 foot long sturgeon washed up in Kenmore. Theories were that it was one of two Sturgeon released after display at the Alaska-Yukon Exposition in 1909. Sightings over the years coincided w/ the estimated growth rate. This could be the other one 24 years later and now maybe 1400 lbs and 19+ feet long......"
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1373078I remember the one in 1987, not that much interest as I remember - I have friends that catch them in the columbia river gorge - they have to b a minimum of 3 feet & a max of 6 feet - anything under or over goes back. Puget Sound is home to the largest octopus in the world, but they don't go into fresh water, couldn't get by the locks.
