A large 6.8 earthquake has just hit 63km SSW of Sola, Vanuatu. The violent quake was followed by a 4.5 quake in the Gulf of California.

A magnitude-6 earthquake has shaken the Gulf of California coast in Mexico, back in October of 2012 but damage was minimal.

The Vanuatu quake (USGS 6.8) was a intermediate depth reverse faulting subduction quake at 200 km (fairly uncommon depth)
