If it sinks completely, it would be the biggest natural disaster this country has ever witnessed. Well just imagine if that whole 3 square mile area were to sink. It would most probably set off a chain reaction. The whole of South Louisiana is delta and very unstable, riddled with salt domes. And if the methane hydrates are on the move from the Gulf, and it appears that they may be, this could be a disaster the likes of which have never been seen. IMHO, this ties in directly to the DWH fiasco. If it does collapse, I wonder what the seismic readings would be. What kind of a quake would it be comparable too?
