How do you guys monitor quakes and forecast 6 hours in advance. Can you really do this.

Japan, I believe, has an early warning system in development but I don't know about their progress on this at the moment, however. In answer to your monitoring question, there are plenty of free apps on both android & iPhone platforms just for this purpose. Just search for earthquake or quake in their respective stores for plenty of free & paid choices. I like Quake Alert for Android, which I downloaded a few days ago. You can also monitor quakes on your desktop using USGS's website or Global Incident Map. Beware that Global Incident Map pulls data from multiple sources, so one earthquake may look like three. Read through the thread and look for threads he started! :) Sorry about that! I've been keeping watch on only the most recent updates due to the increase in quake activity worldwide.
