ARE YOU O NEGATIVE AND HAVE EUROPEAN ANCESTRY? OR UNUSUAL TRAITS?
It has long been known that the Basques have the highest proportion of rhesus-negative blood in Europe , and one of the highest percentages of type-O blood (55%). Recently, however, the geneticist Luiga Luca Cavalli-Sforza has completed a gene map of the peoples of Europe, and he finds the Basques to be strikingly different from their neighbors. The genetic boundary between Basques and non-Basques is very sharp on the Spanish side. On the French side, the boundary is more diffuse: it shades off gradually toward the Garonne in the north. These findings are entirely in agreement with what we know of the history of the language.

Q18. Does this mean the Basques are directly descended from the earliest known human inhabitants of Europe, the Cro-Magnon people who occupied western Europe around 35,000 years ago?

A18. Nobody knows. This is possible, but we have no real evidence either way. The only evidence we have is negative: the archeologists can find no evidence for any sudden change in population in the area for thousands of years before the arrival of the Celts and later the Romans in the first millennium BC.

The people of the Basque region have a greater than 50 percent concentration of the RH negative gene,. The frequency decreases in relation to the distance from the Basque region into the rest of the world until there is very little evidence of this gene. This genetic mapping helps to show that a mutation from RH positive to RH negative occurred somewhere in the Basque area of Europe maybe as much as 40,000 years ago, as he discussed later. Basques are not regional inhabitants of an area, as some believe - they are a completely separate and distinct race whose origins are shrouded in mystery.

Although to all outward appearances they seem to be part of the so called "white" or "caucassian" race group, they have distinct genetic differences which does not allow their being classified as part of that "white" race. For example : Basques are believed to have been the originators of the RH negative blood factor - the original genetic pool from which this factor came. While RH negatives are a small minority in the "white" and other races, and practically non-existent in "orientals", the current Basques still are over 33 % RH negative

I AM FRENCH NORMAN DESCENT FROM RIVES FRANCE NEAR THE BASQUE AREA, AND I'M ALSO SWEDISH FROM THE STOCKHOLM AREA. I HAVE MANY UNUSUAL ANOMALIES--DO YOU? HERE IS AN INTERESTING LINK---EUROPE'S MYSTERY PEOPLE :

[link to www.knowledge.co.uk]
The researches of R. Frank, a scholar at the University of Iowa, suggest that the Basques were far-advanced in navigational skills and other aspects of technology long before the rise of the Roman Empire. The Basques, she believes, are the last remnants of the megalith builders, who left behind dolmens, standing stones, and other rock structures all across Europe and perhaps even in eastern North America.

Two facts set the Basque peoples apart from the other Europeans who have dominated the continent the past 3,000 years: (1) The Basque language is distinctly different; and (2) The Basques have the highest recorded level of Rh-negative blood (roughly twice that of most Europeans), as well as substantially lower levels of Type B blood and a higher incidence of Type O blood.

Some probable technological feats of the Basques or their ancestors are:

Stonehenge and similar megalithic structures....A unique system of measurement based on the number 7, instead of 10, 12, or 60 Regular visits to North America long before Columbus to fish and to trade for beaver skins. Recently unearthed British customs records show large Basque imports of beaver pelts from 1380-1433. The invention of a sophisticated navigational device called an "abacus." (No relation to the common abacus.)

That there exists an especially strong genetic association between the Irish and the Basques, one even closer than the relationship between other west Europeans, was first challenged in 2005, and in 2007 scientists began looking at the possibility of a more recent Mesolithic- or even Neolithic-era entrance of R1b into Europe. A new study published in 2010 by Balaresque et al. implies either a Mesolithic- or Neolithic- (not Paleolithic) era entrance of R1b into Europe. However, all these genetic studies are in agreement that the Irish and Basque (along with the Welsh) share the highest percentage of R1b populations.

Re: ARE YOU O NEGATIVE AND HAVE EUROPEAN ANCESTRY? OR UNUSUAL TRAITS?
I'm O- and have British, German, and Scottish ancestry. I also have low blood pressure, low temp, blue eyes, high verbal and math intelligence. My sister is AB+, which is very unique and possibly the bloodgroup (AB) of Christ.

When we first discovered the "Clan of the Cave Bear" books, my whole family went crazy. It was like remembering something deep within us. I'm reading the most recent one now, which I bought in hardcover the minute it came out. Most people would probably find it excruciatingly boring but I've been reading it every night and can't stop. The tiniest details of Cro-Magnon life fascinate me -- and again, it's like remembering what I already know. I had about decided I'm a reincarnated Cro-Magnon. Perhaps it's true.

I have an Occipital Bun...Don't know my blood type though, havent been to hospital or doctors in over 20 years...

There are still many human populations which often exhibit occipital buns. A greater proportion of early modern Europeans had them, but prominent occipital buns even among Europeans are now relatively infrequent. They are still found fairly often among Basque, Sami and Finn individuals. Bushmen from South Africa and Australian aborigines often have occipital buns also

Rh-negative women and men have several "Unusual Traits" that Rh-positives don't. Some call them "Reptilian Traits".

* An EXTRA-Vertebra (a "Tail Bone")....some are born with a tail(called a "Cauda").
* Lower than normal Body Temperature
* Lower than normal Blood Pressure
* Higher mental analytical abilities.
* Higher Negative-ion shielding (from positive "charged" virus/bacteria)around the body.
* High Sensitivity to EM and ELF Fields.
* Hyper Vision and other senses.
* Etc. (TS-MAJIC-NSC TO THIS LIST I WOULD ADD-PARANORMAL EXPERIENCES,PHENOMONAL INSTINCTS,MAKE WATCHES STOP.---NO WISDOM TEETH,LEFT HANDED AND AMBIDEXTROUS, MOTHER OF IDENTICAL MIRROR IMAGE TWINS-(THATS ME),

Ayla is the main character of Jean Auel's Earth's Children novels. She is a Cro-Magnon woman who was raised by Neanderthals. Ayla was played by Daryl Hannah in the 1986 movie The Clan of the Cave Bear. Her character is parodied in the Japanese video game Chrono Trigger.

[edit] BackgroundAyla is orphaned as a young child when an earthquake opens a fissure in the ground into which the camp of her parents and the group of which they are part fall and are destroyed. Ayla is swimming nude in the river beside the campsite when the earthquake starts and watches the tragedy in horror. Wandering aimlessly, alone, frightened, hungry and helpless, Ayla eventually encounters a cave lion which chases her into a narrow crack in a rock wall; attempting to pull Ayla out, the lion gashes open Ayla's leg, leaving four deep parallel wounds on her thigh. After a day spent hiding in terror, Ayla, driven by thirst, emerges from her hiding place to drink at the nearby stream and then collapses, delirious from fever and starvation. There she is found by a group of Neanderthals, a "Clan" led by Brun, and adopted by Iza, that Clan's medicine-woman or healer. Though neither Iza, Ayla's adoptive mother, nor Creb, the "Mog-ur" (a Shaman-like character) her adoptive father, know Ayla's age for certain, author Jean Auel places Ayla at five years old in the book's second paragraph, and her foster family eventually guesses her age accurately.

See The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, The Mammoth Hunters, The Plains of Passage, and The Shelters of Stone for a detailed synopsis of Ayla's life.

[edit] CharacteristicsAyla is described as tall, with blonde hair, gray-blue eyes, a well-toned body, and a strangely accented voice (actually a speech mannerism.) She has been raised with Clan customs, sign language instead of speech, not to laugh or smile, and not to cry. Almost every male character in the series finds Ayla exceptionally beautiful, though Ayla describes herself as "big and ugly."(because she was raised by the clan as ugly). Another word frequently used to describe her is 'exotic', indicating that she seems a bit foreign to everyone who meets her, and that her own people live somewhere else. A detailed description of her features in The Mammoth Hunters indicates that she might be Slavic.

One of Ayla's most important insights is the concept that men have something to do with the conception of children. Clan people believe that pregnancy and birth are a matter of spirit totems competing; when a woman menstruates, it means her totem has fought off another and has won, but if a woman gets pregnant it means her totem has been overcome. Ayla suspects that this all has something to do with sex, or the "relieving of a man's needs" with a woman. She comes to think of this as a combination of male and female "essence."

Ayla has a longstanding problem with Broud, the son of the leader's mate, who is jealous of the attention she receives. His envy causes him to behave in a disgraceful manner; while women expect to be ordered around, Broud also beats and rapes her, impregnating her at the age of eleven. These actions cause his mother's mate to question whether Broud is fit to be leader. Upon becoming leader after the former tribal head believes he is ready, Broud puts a death curse on Ayla and forces her to leave the Clan forever, leaving her son Durc behind.

Throughout the series, there are many references to Ayla's having great spiritual and intellectual powers, many of which actually may be simple reasoning and common sense. She does have a knack for inventing things, and is credited with many innovations actually made over thousands of years of human history.

[edit] Clan of the Cave BearAs a child among the Clan, she is described as lucky, favored by the spirits. Iza surmises that Ayla was born to a medicine woman of the Others (Cro-Magnons) though Ayla has very little memory of her birth mother and knows nothing of the tribe of the Others to whom she was born. Although Ayla lacks the Clan's ability to access ancestral memories, Iza succeeds in training her as a medicine healer. In her childhood and young adulthood she invents several things previously unknown, as well as innovations to existing tools and their uses (see below.)

When Ayla acts as the medicine woman at the Clan Gathering and prepares the sacred herb for the Mog-urs' ceremony, she ingests some of the juice from the root and is strongly affected by its psychotropic properties. Creb makes telepathic contact with her, and she follows him through his psychic exploration of the Clan "memories." She then follows the path of the Others' divergence from the Clan, and among other things sees a glimpse of the future: "Boxlike structures...long ribbons of stone...strange animals crawling at great speeds...huge birds that flew without flapping their wings." Apparently Auel intended to describe Ayla seeing a glimpse of the modern era, and even beyond to the next stage of human evolution. Creb has seen all these things with her, and telepathically orders her out of the cave when she returns to her own mind, knowing in his heart that only the Others will continue to evolve and that the Clan will die out.

[edit] Valley of HorsesAlone in a secluded valley where she has fled after being expelled from the Clan, Ayla adopts and raises a cave lion cub she calls Baby, and a horse she calls Whinney. She originally stops in the valley to stay for the winter, but stays to take care of the animal friends. She learns that to survive on her own, she must break many Clan traditions she had previously been raised under. She meets Jondalar when he is attacked and mauled by Baby, and tends his wounds. He begins teaching her his language. Some weeks or months later she dreams of her own mother speaking to her and of an earthquake (which betoken tragedy and upheaval to Ayla.) After this dream, Ayla suddenly speaks Jondalar's language fluently even to the idioms, where before she had spoken only in broken sentences. Auel may have meant this event as a partial recovery of repressed memories, but Ayla still does not remember her own or her mother's name, her language, or anything of her past before her adoption. Jondalar recovers and takes Ayla, Racer (Whinney's offspring) and Whinney with him while he completes the pilgrimage he is on, intending to bring her home to meet his family.

[edit] The Mammoth HuntersAyla continues to have psychic and prophetic experiences linked to the rituals used by the Mamutoi people. She dreams that she has two sons, Durc and an unknown son who appears to have no Clan lineage at all; they are on the verge of open conflict, and Ayla struggles to reach them in time to prevent the destruction of one son by the other. It is suggested that the meaning of the dream has less to do with her 'children' than the evolution of the Others and decline of the Clan. Her new friend Ranec comes to believe that she is an incarnation of what he calls the "Spirit Woman," the perfect spirit model of a woman in whose image all are made, and that she may even be the Earth Mother incarnate. Shaman Mamut indicates to Jondalar, Ranec, and Vincavec, another Mamutoi shaman who wants to marry Ayla, that Ayla has some great purpose. Vincavec attempts to hypnotize Ayla, but she is able to resist him, as well as the spiritual influences of others. Though Ayla contends that her ability to tame and win the loyalty of animals is only a matter of time, patience and proper handling, her gift for making friends of numerous animals is considered a sign of her supernatural gifts.

[edit] Plains of PassageOn the journey back to the Zelandonii territory, Jondalar's home, many of the tribes Ayla encounters mistake Ayla's extreme creative intelligence and even her common-sense reasoning for supernatural powers. Jondalar and Ayla both insist that she has no such gifts, but they do not stay in one place long enough to convince anyone otherwise. Ayla continues to have prophetic dreams.

[edit] Shelters of StoneUpon arriving at the Ninth Cave, Jondalar's dwelling, Ayla realizes that this cave is identical to one she's been seeing in her dreams. Her dreams and waking psychic visions become more frequent and more powerful, and the female shaman Zelandoni can sense them. However, Ayla rejects Zelandoni's offers to train her as a priestess, saying she merely wishes to live a normal life. Zelandoni finally convinces Ayla to join the spiritual devotees, known as Those Who Serve the Mother.

[edit] The Land Of Painted CavesPublished March 29, 2011. The last book In the Earth's Children's Series, Ayla is now about 20 years old and training to become a spiritual leader of the Zelandonii. Her training includes a series of harrowing journeys.[1]

[edit] Invention and skillsPhenomenal Memory: Because she doesn't have inherent Clan memories which allow recall after a few reminders, Ayla is at first seen by the Clan as dimwitted because she must be told or shown repeatedly how to do things. As a defense, she works to develop her memory skills so she needs to be shown or told only once. This knack comes in handy when she encounters new languages.
Two-Stone Technique: after almost being harmed by a lynx when she missed with her sling, Ayla develops a technique to reload her sling after a cast during the downfall, for immediate use.
Diagnosis: as reasoned by Iza, although Ayla could not memorize all Clan medicinal lore, she has the ability to reason intuitively, recognize the causes of illnesses and treat them appropriately.
Brassiere: Ayla is the only Clan woman permitted to hunt (small game only, using a sling.) As she matures, she finds that her breasts impede her mobility. "She noticed that men wore a leather loincloth to protect their exposed and delicate organs, and fashioned a band to hold her bosom in place, tied around her back." (The Clan of the Cave Bear, chapter 26)
Atlatl: Works with her partner Jondalar to develop a "spear-thrower."
Domestication: out of loneliness in her valley, Ayla has raised a horse, Whinney, her foal Racer, a Cave Lion cub she calls Baby, later with the mammoth hunters she gets a wolf she simply calls Wolf.
Horse Equipment: Inspired by the idea that she can ride Whinney, Ayla invents drag poles, carrying packs, and notably the travois.
Percussion Fire Starting: After a mistake in making flint weapons, Ayla recognizes that sparks from striking a 'firestone' of iron pyrite with a piece of flint can start a fire
Sewing Needle: Ayla tried and failed to learn the Mamutoi sewing techniques, and instead came up with a sharp bone with a hole, which she calls a "thread-puller," to draw sinew through leather—instead of just punching holes and pushing the thread in with another tool.
Surgical Stitches: When Ayla first encounters Jondalar his leg has been torn open by a Cave Lion, to the point where the muscle is hanging off the bone. Ayla determines that in order to heal properly, his leg would have to be physically held closed. She notices how his clothing (in the typical style of his people, but unfamiliar to her) is formed of panels of cloth tied together with thongs, and has the idea to literally tie his leg back together by boring holes in his flesh and muscle, then threading cord through the holes and tying them off.
Much later (in The Shelters of Stone) Wolf is mauled almost to death by another wild wolf; Ayla uses her "thread puller" sewing needle to stitch his wounds. Needless to say, both patients made full recoveries.

[edit] Children[edit] DurcAyla's son, fathered by Broud. Durc was born when Ayla was eleven years old, the result of Broud's repeated rapes in his attempt to exert control over Ayla. Because of his Cro-Magnon appearance, Durc is thought to be deformed by the Clan. According to Clan law, a child must live seven days before being named and accepted in the Clan, and Ayla was originally going to attempt to force his acceptance by running away until seven days had passed. However, Ayla realized the error of her thinking before it was too late and returned to the Clan after 6 days and begged Brun to accept her son. Durc had heavy brows like the Clan, but a thin neck and pronounced chin like Ayla, and he can speak in both Clan signs and verbal speech. He is tall like his mother while his father Broud is a short man. Shortly after Iza's death, Ayla lost her mother's milk and Durc was nursed by the other nursing mothers of the Clan. As a result, Durc used the 'mother' sign for every woman of the Clan, and reserved the spoken word 'Mama' for Ayla. When Broud ordered Ayla cursed with death and forced her to leave, Ayla left Durc in the care of her (adopted) sister Uba and under the old clan leader Brun's protection. Before he died, Creb came to believe that Durc is Ayla's gift to the Clan, to ensure that some vestiges of the Clan will survive as they die out.

Re: ARE YOU O NEGATIVE AND HAVE EUROPEAN ANCESTRY? OR UNUSUAL TRAITS?

Your parents must have recessive 0 in their blood and they happened to pass both onto you, your siblings would have got the positive alleles...here is something that may help.

2 Type-A parents...can produce A or O children. ~1 Type-A parent, 1 Type B parent...can produce AB, A, B, or O children. ~1 Type-A parent, 1 Type AB parent...can produce AB, A, or B children. ~1 Type-A parent, 1 Type O parent...can produce A or O children. ~2 Type-B parents...can produce B or O children. ~1 Type-B parent, 1 Type-AB parent...can produce AB, A, or B children. ~1 Type-B parent, 1 Type-O parent...can produce B or O children. ~2 Type-AB parents...can produce AB, A, or B children. ~1 Type-AB parent, 1 Type-O parent...can produce A or B children. ~2 Type-O parents...can only produce O children.
We've all got two - and only two - blood type alleles, one from each parent. (Rh factor is determined at a separate spot in our genes.) Since there are three possible allele types (A, B, and O), we're all missing at least one of them. Type A people can have: 2 As; 1 A, 1 O Type B people can have: 2 Bs; 1 B, 1 O Type AB people can only have: 1 A, 1 B Type O people can only have: 2 Os We each pass on *one* of our two alleles (selected essentially at random) to our offspring: AB people can pass on A or B. A people with 2 A alleles can only pass on A. A people with 1 A and 1 O can pass on either. B people with 2 B alleles can only pass on B. B people with 1 B and 1 O can pass on either. O people can only pass on O. The combination of that allele with the allele passed on by our partner determines the baby's blood type. The theoretical combinations work like this: 1 A, 1 B gives the child AB. 1 A, 1 O gives the child A. 1 B, 1 O gives the child B. 2 As gives the child A. 2 Bs gives the child B. 2 Os gives the child O. Therefore, a type B mother can pass on B, and theoretically O if she has a B/O combination herself. A type O father can *only* pass on O. So, your example of a B mother and O father only has two possibilities: type B children (B from the mother, O from the father) or type O children (O from the mother, O from the father). That couple cannot ever produce type A children.

* An EXTRA-Vertebra (a "Tail Bone")....some are born with a tail(called a "Cauda").
* Lower than normal Body Temperature
* Lower than normal Blood Pressure
* Higher mental analytical abilities.

I think it's just a coincidence, but I'm B-negative with lower than normal body temp, low blood pressure, said to be extremely analytical, and hyper-acute hearing. But here's the thing: I don't have wisdom teeth, I'm ambidextrous and I'm the sister of mirror-image twins.

Forgot to say - I'm Scotch, Irish, French. No idea where the B type blood came from (but since it's dominant it only takes one B back there in the woodpile somewhere). And some people in my family have something that causes watches to stop, etc. Don't know what that's about.

Re: ARE YOU O NEGATIVE AND HAVE EUROPEAN ANCESTRY? OR UNUSUAL TRAITS?
when my wife and i met we were drawn together in a way i cant describe. after dating many women i knew in a min that she was the one and i am no romantic. we found out later that she was type -O. so am i. she shows all the physical traits of RH-. i am more psychic prone having natural obe's and lucid dreams. our 3 kids are all -O. my wife is french and limey while i am 100% Finnish American. there is a high propensity for RH negative blood in scandinavia from what i have read. ive also read that the governments keep records of rh neg blood types. i believe its either a result of some kind of intervention or perhaps a crossing over from the previous civilization. i also read that it almost does not exist in dark skinned people. modern geneticists wont talk about it too much. its the equivalent of talking about ufo's and your career will get the shaft if you write about it. that means it carries a very high degree of importance in my book. anyway sorry for punctuation i'm texting this from an old phone.

I share all these same characteristics, even to the sister with AB+ blood. And yes, my whole family was addicted to the Clan series, although I'm the only one who has waded through the last two, but as this poster says, I HAD to keep reading it. Fantastic!!
