Just to give you a sense of just how badly FEMA has f*cked up
Below says it all. FEMA heads should roll..but they´ll probably get promoted instead.

Sheriff Lee and Senator Gautreaux & 1000 of Louisiana´s citizens responded to the public´s pleas for help. They were prevented from helping by Dwight Landreneau´s agency, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries which had been taken over by FEMA

This is beyond my comprehension and after spending two frustrating days trying to just get someone to let us help we´ve FINNALLY been told we can conduct "renegade" boat rescues via the just concluded press conference that Gov. Blanco just held.
Why is this JUST NOW being allowed? Well let´s start from the very beginning.

On Wednesday morning a group of approximately 1,000 citizens pulling 500 boats left the Acadiana Mall in Lafayette in the early morning and headed to New Orleans with a police escort from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff´s Department. The flotillia of trucks pulling boats stretched over FIVE miles. This citizen rescue group was organized by La. State Senator, Nick Gautreaux from Vermilion Parish. The group was comprised of experienced boaters, licensed fishermen and hunters, people who have spent their entire adult life and teenage years on the waterways of Louisiana.

The State Police waved the flotillia of trucks/boats through the barricades in LaPlace and we sped into New Orleans via I-10 until past the airport and near the Clearview exit. At that time we were stopped by agents of the FEMA controlled La. Dept. of Wildlife & Fisheries. A young DWF agent strolled through the boats and told approximately half of the citizens that their boats were too large because the water had dropped during the night and that they should turn around and go home.

More below the fold

Diaries :: pelican´s diary :: Sun Sep 4th, 2005 at 01:41:12 AM EDT

They were pulling a large (24ft) shallow draft aluminum boat that can safely carry 12 passengers and had ramp access which would allow the elderly and infirm to have easier access to the boat. They then politely informed the DWF agent that the local and national media had consistently reported that the water level had risen during the night which contradicted his statement to them that the water was dropping and no boat over 16ft. in length would be allowed to participate in rescue operations.
They then specifically asked the DWF agent that they (and other citizens in the flotillia) be allowed to go to the hospitals and help evacuate the sick and the doctors and nurses stranded there. They offered to bring these people back to Lafayette, in our own vehicles, in order to ensure that they received proper and prompt medical care.

The DWF agent did not want to hear this and ordered them home -- ALL FIVE HUNDRED BOATS. They complied with the DWF agent´s orders, turned around and headed back to Lafayette along with half of the flotillia. However, two friends were pulling a smaller 15ft alumaweld with a 25 hp. The DWF agents let them through to proceed to the rescue operation launch site.

They were allowed to drive to the launch site where the FEMA controlled La. Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries were launching their rescue operations (via boat). They reported to me that there were over 200 DWF agents just standing around and doing nothing. They were kept there for approximately 3 hours. During that time they observed a large number of DWF agents doing absolutely nothing. Why? Because FEMA would n ot let them HELP! After three hours had passed they were told that they were not needed and should go home. They complied with the DWF´s orders and turned around and went home to Lafayette.

Watching CNN later that night, there was a telephone interview with a Nurse trapped in Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She said that there were over 1,000 people trapped inside of the hospital and that the doctors and nurses had zero medical supplies, no diesel to run the generators and that only three people had been rescued from the hospital since the Hurricane hit!

I can´t come up with one logical reason why the DWF sent this large group of 500 boats/1000 men home when we surely could have rescued most, if not all, of the people trapped in Charity Hospital. Further, we had the means to immediately transport these people to hospitals in Southwest Louisiana.

On Tuesday afternoon, August 30, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee asked for all citizens with boats to come to the aid of Jefferson Parish. A short time later Dwight Landreneau, the head of the La. Depart. of Wildlife and Fisheries, got on television and remarked that his agency had things under control and citizen help was not needed. Apparently, Sheriff Lee did not agree with that assessment and had one of his deputies provide the Lafayette flotillia with an escort into Jefferson Parish.

Sheriff Lee and Senator Gautreaux - 1000 of Louisiana´s citizens responded to the public´s pleas for help. They were prevented from helping by Dwight Landreneau´s agency, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries which had been taken over by FEMA. When I learned that Charity Hospital has not been evacuated and that no one has been there to attempt a rescue, I became angry.

It was because of this that my friend and I have been trying launch boats both yesterday and today but to no avail. It looks like FINALLY the Governor has just said SCREW FEMA, get those boats in the water and help save my citizens.

So I think we´ll be in the water tomorrow to help but for now I´m immensely frustrated.

If there is anyone on the CCN that is in the Baton Rouge area we are meeting today at the LA State Dem Party HQ at 2pm CST to game out tomorrow

Everyone has the opinion that someone screwed up. No. It went according to plan:

RedDawn
2:34 pm

Meet the Press with Tim Russert, Sunday 9-4-05

Chertoff: And one last point I´d make is this, Tim. We had actually prestaged a tremendous number of supplies, meals, shelter, water. We had prestaged, even before the hurricane, dozens of Coast Guard helicopters, which were obviously nearby but not in the area. So the difficulty wasn´t lack of supplies.

(They should have been IN the shelters)

RedDawn
2:40

Speaking to "Larry King Live" on August 31, in the wake of Katrina, Brown said, "That Category 4 hurricane caused the same kind of damage that we anticipated. So we planned for it two years ago. Last year, we exercised it. And unfortunately this year, we´re implementing it."

Brown suggested FEMA -- part of the Department of Homeland Security -- was carrying out a prepared plan, rather than having to suddenly create a new one.

(They carried it out EXACTLY as planned....read Operation Garden Plot...and it happened just that way)

The draft of a 14´ to a 24´ boat would be negligible. A 17´ run about boat is probably the most common size among the small speedboats, that´s why the 16´ arbitrary cut off size.

The outboard motor draws more water than the boat hull itself. Strange.

They are afraid to risk what amounts to someone cutting their finger, while that someone is in the act of saving someone´s life.

The assholes are tying your hands at every step.

I also watched Tim Russert, and he put a lot
of the blame on local government. They
knew that the people would evacuate to the
superdome, and yet there wasn´t water, food
or cots ready for those that came.

Also, the local government knew that the
poor didn´t have money or means to get out.
So why wasn´t there buses, trains to get
them out before the storm arrived?

The mayor was on Tim´s show and he shows
up looking immaculate. He sure found a safe
place.

You´re thinking it was just a fuck-up, but the problem is that the Bush administration is nothing but a series of fuck-ups. After a while the pattern begins to emerge that´s it´s not a fuck-up, but it was planned that way.
"We didn´t know".. isn´t a good enough answer at his level. If he/they weren´t smart enough for the job, why did they run for it? I expect genius level work, and we are probably getting it. Except that their goals aren´t the same as ours.

Maybe, but in these cases, it NOT JUST a case of the Government being unprepared & slow to respond. That kind of criticism COULD wait till later.

People need to be accountable here because, BESIDES BEING INEFFECTIVE, FEMA HINDERED & PREVENTED PEOPLE FROM BEING RESCUED & PEOPLE DIED.

They died because people in positions of authoriy STOPPED OTHER PEOPLE FROM SAVING THEM.

If even one person dies because of red tape its a travesty.

Next time it could be you or me who die.

Earlier Sunday, New Orleans Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot at eight people, killing five or six.

Troubledog, I see your knoweleg about FEMA is very limited. You posted wrong info about the Police shooting the wrong people before you had all the facts. You are also ranting about FEMA without all the facts. FEAM is not the Org it once was. The Dept of Home Land Security now runs FEMA. So I suggest that before you put your head even more up your ass, you shoud hold back your uneducated bias.

51, you aren´t too knowledgeable about FEMA, either! You probably didn´t even check out the website that DETAILS what this is all about.

Homeland Security is an umbrella for many agencies that work like a hand in a glove: the FBI, CIA, and the military, but it is FEMA who controls the operations, having been given the power to suspend the Constitution!

What is the Federal Emergency Management Agency? Simply put, it is the "secret government". This agency has powers and authority that go well beyond any other agency in the nation. What can FEMA do? It can suspend laws. It can move entire populations. It can arrest and detain citizens without a warrant and can hold them without a trial. It can seize property, food supplies, and transportation systems. And it can even suspend the Constitution of the United States.

“One of the Worst Abandonments of Americans on American Soil Ever”

The president of Jefferson Parish in New Orleans, Aaron Broussard, just issued an emotional appeal on NBC’s Meet the Press. By the end, he was completely broken down, sobbing uncontrollably:

[Crooks and Liars, as always, has the video.]

RUSSERT: You just heard the director of homeland security’s explanation of what has happened this last week. What is your reaction?

BROUSSARD: We have been abandoned by our own country. Hurricane Katrina will go down in history as one of the worst storms ever to hit an American coast. But the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will go down as one of the worst abandonments of Americans on American soil ever in U.S. history. … Whoever is at the top of this totem pole, that totem pole needs to be chainsawed off and we’ve got to start with some new leadership. It’s not just Katrina that caused all these deaths in New Orleans here. Bureaucracy has committed murder here in the greater New Orleans area and bureaucracy has to stand trial before Congress now.

Broussard then discussed the difficulties local authorities had with FEMA, including one case where they actually posted armed guards to keep FEMA from cutting their communications lines:

Three quick examples. We had Wal-Mart deliver three trucks of water. FEMA turned them back. They said we didn’t need them. This was a week ago. FEMA, we had 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on a Coast Guard vessel docked in my parish. When we got there with our trucks, FEMA says don’t give you the fuel. Yesterday — yesterday — FEMA comes in and cuts all of our emergency communication lines. They cut them without notice. Our sheriff, Harry Lee, goes back in, he reconnects the line. He posts armed guards and said no one is getting near these lines…

Finally, Broussard told the tragic personal story of a colleague, and broke down:

I want to give you one last story and I’ll shut up and let you tell me whatever you want to tell me. The guy who runs this building I’m in, Emergency Management, he’s responsible for everything. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home and every day she called him and said, “Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?” and he said, “Yeah, Mama, somebody’s coming to get you.” Somebody’s coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody’s coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody’s coming to get you on Thursday. Somebody’s coming to get you on Friday… and she drowned Friday night. She drowned Friday night! [Sobbing] Nobody’s coming to get us. Nobody’s coming to get us. The Secretary has promised. Everybody’s promised. They’ve had press conferences. I’m sick of the press conferences. For god’s sakes, just shut up and send us somebody.

FEMA did NOT stuff up...in fact everything is going according to PLAN...read on..

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see this is a MAJOR disater for the WHOLE WORLD!!

STOP AND THINK about it.

BILLIONS of gallons of virus and bacteria infested SLUSH mixed with just aboout every nasty chemical known to man left to stew in the humidity and the heat for WEEKS!!

AFTER which it has has time to fester in squalid putrefecation...they then pump this WHOLE TOXIC BREW OF LUQUID DEATH IN TO AN ALREADY DYING OCEAN.

From there whatever germs were in the water will SPREAD to the whole WORLD.

sucked up into the clouds and rained down all over the globe.

Distributed by ocean currents infecting the ENTIRE FOOD CHAIN from the bottom right to the very TOP...your DINNER TABLE.

There will be a WORLD WIDE PANDEMIC OF UNPRECEDENTED PROPORTIONS...AS PROPHESIED AND FORSEEN....and now you know how it will come about.

and just think....THIS IS ONLY THE FIRST DISASTER...there will be many many more by this time next year.

In the meantime the "survivors" of Nawlins will be spreading whatever THEY have contracted around the US and the WORLD.
ANYONE who was there is now INFECTED with at least ONE disease...and it will only get MUCH MUCH WORSE.

My advice is...STOCK UP>>>GET AWAY FROM ALL CITIES AS THEY WILL SOON BE MASS GRAVES>>>>AND GET RIGHT WITH GOD!!!

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL AND THERE IS NOW NO TURNING BACK.

Just TRY to debunk THIS!!!
