Tracphone? Is that a prepaid type phone? If so what is the normal charge per minute? Internet, international, long distance, stuff like that? Is it cheaper than a plan in the long run, I wonder how many minutes per month on a card is "average"?

Depends on where you live. I've used Boost mobile before. I also tried Virgin mobile too. Good prices, good coverage, affordable no-contract plans.

You can look at the phones and plans at your local Target store, or visit one of their retailers. We have them here in Georgia.

You can go to Radio Shack or go online to Boost Mobile.
For $45.00 a month you get unlimited talk, text and internet.
No contracts, you pay online , by phone or in person.

Here is the site. [link to www.boostmobile.com]

I do At&t go phone. I get refurbished phones really cheap and never had a problem with them so far. Some of them are like .99 cents to whatever you want to pay. I got a Pantech Link for $25.00 with qwerty keyboard and the cheapest each month is $15.00 for 30 days. I do fine with it, have great coverage. 1 dollar a day for talking, nothing for texting. The texts are $4.99 for 200 and $9.99 for 1000. But they have changed something about the daily stuff, depends on the phone you get. $2.00 a day, but that is freakin 60 bucks a month if you talk on it everyday, unlimited talk and text for that day. I already had the 1 dollar a day, so I just put my sim card in it and kept my old plan. But here is the link.

Straight Talk exclusively at Wal-Mart. Carrier, like Tracfone is whatever the system can get in your area. Here in southern Oregon, the carrier is Verizon. In northern Oregon it was Sprint. (BTW, Straight Talk is a Tracfone company).

Cost is phone plus either $30/month for 1,000 minutes of talk and/or text, or $45/month for unlimited talk and/or text.

Love mine !!!

Have a nice day.

I use Tracfone and have for years. You can buy a Tracfone with double minutes for life so if you buy a 200 minute card that card now becomes 400 minutes and plus when your ready to add minutes just google tracfone promo codes and you can add 50-100 minutes to that. All in all I get 500 minutes for around 40 bux each fill and 120 days is added each time, used minutes and time do roll over. Tracfone is good for someone who doesnt talk alot but I have been talking more and more lately and I am looking to switch carriers myself.

I've used tracfone for awhile and never had a problem with reception.

Most of their phones come with double minutes for life now. So let's say you buy 60 minutes with 90 days service, you'll instead get 120min and 90 days of service. You can also get bonus minutes by entering promo codes.

I go here to get the best promo codes:

Both Boost and Virgin Mobile are owned by Sprint and use its network.

My spouse gets a phone allowance and it pays for a family plan, but I prefer having my own phone because the employer can ask to see the bill at any time. I also like having a spare phone in the car.

Virgin Mobile has several plans. You can pay 20 bucks every 3 months to keep the service on and .20/a minute if you don't talk much. They have a monthly plan of $30 for 1200 minutes and 500 text messages also. Those two plans are using their cheapest phones and are called PayLo plans. You can get a phone for as little as $19.95. I had one phone for a year that only cost $9.99.

They also have a $25/month 300 minutes another plan with 1500 minutes for $40, and a $60/month plan with unlimited minutes. All three of those plans have unlimited data/Web/Messaging. Those plans are called the
"Beyond Talk" plans. They use more expensive phones, which run anywhere from $69 to $200. There are a couple of Android phones and a Blackberry available.

But if you want to use the Internet on your phone, 200 bucks for an Android phone and $25/month for unlimited data and Web is cheap.

You can't use phones from other companies on Virgin Mobile, not even Boost Mobile or Sprint phones. They don't have SIM cards and the phones are locked to Virgin Mobile.

They also sell mobile broadband, but I've never dealt with that.
