Politely send one back explaining how downloading a movie from another person is no different than going to there house and watching it or copying it or borrowing it.
Which is not illegal.
And that it is not the full high quality version of the movie and that you have not taken the right away from the copyright holder to sell it.
And have taken no physical thing off them as if you hadn't have got it off your friend you wouldn't have bought it anyway.

I can go to see, and/or rent a lot of movies for what these defendants are going to end up paying.

It's just simply not worth it. Not worth the hassle to go though all the work of trying to hide what you're doing. Not worth the risk of crapping up your compy with crapware, etc.
