Okay, OP... I am an open minded person and geniunely enjoy new ideas and takes the time to put myself in the "shoes" of others, especially when their views are contrary to my own. In a way, every conversation is an opportunity to confirm my beliefs or to have them changed by new perspective or explanation. I can see the interest in hypnosis for sure, in fact it is quite fascinating to read about! My question is though is why is it that evert single time I witness someone performing "hypnosis" on someone, like in the videos on your thread, I can see nothing but a fat load of BS? Did (or do) you have this separation at any point? I would imagine that if one were to truly want to explore this to ANY degree beyond recreational reading the first step would have to be getting over your own mental blocks to it. Thoughts? Either way, definitely a very interesting post, OP.  Much of what your seeing in this clips is a form of either instant hypnosis or stage hypnosis. Darren Brown is a prodigy with hypnosis. No BS in his works. The Big Guy with the pony tail when he does his inductions seems a bit far fetched. However we are not seeing the entire picture. The subjects have been hypnotized many times by this guy and he has anchors embedded in their subconscious that can be activated at will with certain triggers. Watch the Darren Brown clips. There only a few minutes each and in my opinion genuine. With stage hypnosis, the Hypnotist is trained to look for certain cues or body language from the audience. Some people are more susceptible to go into trance with hypnotic inductions. The hypnotist will then invite up to the stage the individuals that are the easiest to control. Hypnosis is all around us in everyday life.
