Type I or Type II? Type I = Insulin a must. Type II = Insulin as a last resource when all else fails. Type 2. I've been diabetic for about 5 years now. I weigh 185 give or take a few pounds in either direction. I'm 56. My Dad was a brittle diabetic. His Mom had major problems with her diabetes. The bad thing is I'm an emotional eater, stressed out big time taking care of my Mom. I noticed when we found ot about her lung cancer and other health issues is when my A1C jumped up from 7.5 up to 10.2. Stress I think is what caused it. Bah I'm feeling disgusted I guess. |

Take evening primrose oil and use honey for a year while trans fat leaves body. You will be cured in a year. Take vitamin B complex and multivitamin to speed recovery. Do not resume eating trans fat and sugar you will get diabetes again. By the way, the diabetes drugs deplete you of B12. Without B12 you may need to have your feet removed in a few years. |

Takes about 3 months to stop the hungry all the time feeling. Tryptophan and melatonin at bedtime with milk and crackers will stop the cravings and make you sleep well. |

Tiger Maple User ID: 1401057 United States 05/26/2011 03:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Don't be hard on yourself... it's not a death sentence. it just means you need to manage your intake. Just eat right drink plenty of water and go for a walk every day. You'll be fine... you know what the greatest lesson I've learned so far is? Buy the biggest tupperware tub that will fit in your fridge easily, and always keep a lots of salad in there. don't buy the packaged stuff... chop up your own and make it fresh all i one big batch. Carrots, cucumbers, green peppers, red cabbage, spinach, etc. Avoid iceberg lettuce because it turns brown quickly, use romaine instead... FYI the red cabbage acts like a magnet and keeps the lettuce from oxidizing too quickly. adding a good amount of sliced red cabbage will make a bunch of salad last 2-3 longer. When you're hungry and going to reach for something... reach for a salad ... if it's already prepared sitting there you'll be more willing to choose the salad. If you must dress it use a vinaigrette thats mostly vinegar. Carrots are my go-to snack. I go through 4-5 bags of carrots a month. I really like carrots, and they are satisfying and crunchy. |

Jem* User ID: 1371096 United Kingdom 05/26/2011 04:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi OP, Im Type 1 Diabetic and you will feel SO much better when you start having your Insulin. I totally understand how you feel right now, it's scary injecting something into you every single day, in my case 4 times a day. The tiredness, sickness, depression and everything else that comes with being Diabetic is hard. Don't be too hard on yourself if you give in and eat something that you probably shouldn't, we are only human, Things would be different if we'd have been born Diabetic as we wouldn't know any different, It's harder to be diagnosed later in life. I really, really struggle with it, I'll be honest, Not 1 day goes by when i don't find it hard. I feel that when i was diagnosed i lost a big part of me. I've had it for over 10 years now and I've made HUGE fuck ups with my Diabetes and I've probably significantly reduced my life span because of it. The best advice I can give is to take each day at a time and don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get there and you'll feel lots better soon enough. Although there are side effects with Insulin and each person reacts differently to them, you should start feeling better. Take Care OP. Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. - Buddha (Kalama Sutta.) |
