But, in the long run, the price will only (seem) to go up and up, as the dollar loses it's value. The price of metals isn't going up, in fact. The dollar is going down and metals simply preserve value.

ZIRP \ NIRP means the "carry cost" of gold is negligible.... UST's are topping, only small amount of upside exists compared to downside risk. Hence gold is a logical choice for the risk averse... secondly..... the ability of golds price movement makes it the perfect collateral balance. When the POG moves higher, a greater amount of credit creation may occur.... thirdly, the CB's have been inflating for over 100 yrs, thats their main job & #1 reason for their existence. Do u really think they are going to change policy and terminate the inflationary scheme NOW?
