High Court Sustains Arizona Employer Sanctions Law
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court has sustained Arizona's law that penalizes businesses for hiring workers who are in the United States illegally, rejecting arguments that states have no role in immigration matters.

The important thing is, states do have a say so in immigration matters.

Finally, a little justice for America. I was really starting to wonder if Justice had altogether left the building for this sad, once-great nation.

I'm sure that Barry and the "Just Us" Department are pretty livid over this.

They shouldn't have a say, it's a federal issue... Green cards are not handed out by states are they? Just wondering on that point. Why hire illegals when American Citizens need jobs bad...

Yes, the states SHOULD have a say; if the person doesn't have a green card, then they aren't legally able to work in the country, so the states that make up that country should have a right to check, and to impose penalties on businesses that do hire them.

As to why a business would hire illegals instead of American citizens... because they can hire them for much cheaper and not pay FICA, etc. on them since they don't have a valid SSN. So the business pays them under the table without paying FICA, SS, Workman's comp, etc. etc. and it's much cheaper for them. Sure, it's bad for the country, but if you're a business who only cares about maximizing profit and/or "stockholder value", then that isn't really important, is it?

One Bill to bring them all and in the debt-ness bind them

It's not about people w/green cards who r here legally - it's about the illegals - it's a problem, a big one. My neighbor is from Mexico, he has a green card, not a problem.

The state & locals do issue business license, they do have a right to enforce how a company works under those license.
