As did many of the Congressmen that appropriated funds and awarded the contracts.

To this very day U.S. congressmen either own part of the companies they award contracts via a no bid process or are employed by those companies immediately after their terms are up.

The same companies are often the main contributers to the political campaigns these politicians run to be elected.

In many cases the politicians are able to spend these donations on lavish luxury items and keep a certain portion of the donations, effectively making them legal bribes.

While in office these politicians then kick back exemption clauses or vote in favor of issues that are in the interest of those campaign contributors.

A recent law passed that gives corporations the same rights as a human being, the problem is that since most corporations have more funds and can employ full time lobbyists this law actually grants the corporations more rights and influence than most grass roots organizations comprised of normal citizens.

The corruption is actually legal and right in your face in America and paid shills defend it's virtues valiantly.

I hope they hang the fucker, and all those like him.

The gist of the allegations rest on the charge by Mr. Kammenos, that the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. George Papandreou and members of his team, presided over the sale of 1.3 billion dollars worth of credit default swap contracts (CDS on Greek sovereign debt) on or around December of 2009, shortly after coming to power. The 1.3 billion dollars worth of insurance protecting against a Greek default was bought during the spring and summer of the same year, by the Hellenic Postbank, a public banking arm of the Greek government.
