And if anyone knows of huge PA land for sale that is wooded, has a clean creek or pond, let me know. I prefer at least 100 acres.

Your are more likely to get blown up by your water faucet exploding from all the fraking that's taking place in rural Pennsylvania than from any other man made or natural disaster.
If you are really concerned, put away 6 months of food and take a gun safety course. Buy a 12 gauge shot gun. Study and practice fire the various types of rounds with their various spray and penetration potentials catered to the situations that you might believe you may find yourself in. If your really gun ho, learn how to make your own ammo.
Keep in mind that a shot gun is equally suited to scare as well as to kill. It's important to lean that distinction. Regardless on how well you think you know your self. You will never know what your reaction is going to be until you are put into such a situation.
If thing really go to hell, it could be your neighbors you are protecting your family from. And that's another Pandora's box you don't want to open.

remember if you bug out consider natural food. the anf and northern area is a great place to hide but other than plants for food the wildlife" deer, bear, elk, turkey" are limited.

What are you talking limited?? I live in NW PA and everyday I could walk out my back door and catch fish or shoot deer, bear, turkey, goose, duck, even woodchuck if I got desperate, not to mention the 5000 head of cattle within a 5 mile radius.

Look towards Elk, Cameron, Warren and Forest counties. These areas have been hit pretty hard during the last 10-15 years and there are a lot of people looking to sell land. Cheap way to look for land is to look for people who have recently logged the land and don't have any gas wells on it. It is usually sub 1000/acre in these areas if that has been done.

bugging out doesnt mean going to the holiday inn in a small town. it means (going off grid) in the woods. unlike red dawn when your wanted, you cant go shopping in town. living off the land.

Re: Where should I bug-out to in pa when tshtf?
from what i see, there arent near the numbers as there once was.during bear season i only saw 10 deer all 4 days, including spotting. i see 50 or more spotting around my place. pa game commission show stable but declined numbers. i do know that deer per square mile ratio show south western pa has double or more the amount of wildlife than northern counties.eastern ohio is even better than pa........ but than again these are all just ideas. you need to choose for your self whats best for your family. i dont live near a large town or city, im hunkering down as long as possible. have manual pump for well, enough food for at least 9 months, fuel, woodburner and wood, gene.even go as far as boarding up. firearms etc. im not leaving all of it unless i really have to.

Find some topographical maps online. Think strategy. Troop movements. Hungry bands of hillbillies. Then pick out a spot that they would never go to or stumble upon. Someplace on the side of a cliff maybe. Grab a GPS and hike out there. Dig a hole in the side of that cliff. Dig it big. Support the cieling with the supplies you bring out on your second trip. Camouflage it. Nearby dig another hole and bury a used supply of food in a hermetically sealed box. Throw a pound of rice in there to wick up moisture. When it's time to go just grab your bag and head out. Leave no trace and tell no one except the chicks you plan to repopulate the planet with.

Lol, the town I grew up in? It must be, it is the only one that fits that description. Hello, hunting season neighbor.

Re: Where should I bug-out to in pa when tshtf?
Two years ago I bought a house and some land on the sunshine coast BC.
I bugged out of Vancouver.
I Have a wood burning kitchen stove a big garden and a good water supply.
I did everything I could think of to get past these tough times.
Problem is the fight or flee instinct is still there and getting stronger.
I think there may be no such thing as bugging out.
Wherever you are you will still feel like running away.

First thing I would do is to be sure and advertise where I am going to bug out to on GLP, they will never find you.
I'd like to agree with you, but then we would both be wrong.

Yea, because they could not find you by looking at your purchases and investments which would include the land and house or cabin you bought. If you are of that high of interest to them where they will use their resources to come get you, you need a little better plan than simply bugging out.

We have a two 60 acre wooded parcels of land available in NE Pennsylvania. These parcels have their own private lakes. If you need more information, please feel free to contact me.

Re: Where should I bug-out to in pa when tshtf?
I live in PA and I don't feel that there is anywhere that is safe anymore. The fracking that goes on in PA is as bad as anywhere else. Chemicals have gotten into the water everywhere and I suppose the aquifiers as well. There are videos on Youtube about various areas and Fracking in PA. I'd do my research if I were you.

That said, I have been all over the Eastern half of PA many times, the west side not so much. In the farthest northern areas of PA there are alot of areas that are very remote; lots of land on dirt roads.

I suggest north and northwest of the Scranton area. You are not so far from cities, yet very remote in some places. I lived on 200 acres - a dirt road on the top of a mountain on the border of PA and NY a while back and it was heaven.

Look at the area of the Laurel Mountains, Pa. Elevation is good and there is plenty of land. People keep to themselves. Good for hunting. You will see a ridge of State Forests and State gamelands. Reports of Bigfoot too, if that means anything...
