You must be patient. Right now they are imploding. The police state is an effort to maintain control.

They would love nothing more to use you as an example or to spread lies about you to make Americans live in fear.

Be patient, calm down, quiet the rhetoric, and be ready when the time comes.
 Quoting: Gandhi

I'll be waiting for the implosion, but not quietly. I have no good reason to believe that it'll even happen in my lifetime considering some of the fear that I see here.
Why would a government that has its civvies so submissive give up their power?
 Quoting: googooflexy

I'm done, many in America are upset, but the internet is not secure. You are making a BIG MISTAKE in my opinion. There are other ways......I suggest you find them and direct this energy towards safer, more productive ends.

Best of luck,

Gandhi.

I've yet to see a video of cops dishing out a beating with people calmly discussing the events that lead them to meeting the police to begin with...
 Quoting: BRIEF

Actually, my husband was talking about a vid he saw yesterday regarding 'violent protest' the included 6 people dancing silently (because they were listening to their ipods) in front of the Jefferson Memorial. Apparently the police got physical pretty fast.

They say they are going to 'dance' again on Saturday as well.

Edited to add the vid:

These people were told to stop, then they resisted arrest...you don't have the right to dance in a library, museum, or just anyplace you choose because it's inappropriate behavior...why would they even want to dance there? Just to be assholes, that's why and they got treated as such...
 Quoting: BRIEF

Exactly!!! I'm not saying the cops response was correct, BUT they start flapping off... Just do what they say, then go figure out a SMART way to fight back. What came out of this? Some hippie got beat up, and the cops got to pump up their chest more. In otherwords, you HELP TPTB by this behavoir...

OP, stop.

Don't try to play sane moderator all of the sudden.

Especially after what happened to Giffords, I think it's entirely reasonable that police would come check on someone who wrote an unbalanced letter mentioning dying in the act of taking action... I think that's suggestive of a certain mindset that could be assumed to be on the edge or just plain coo coo crazy.

You went over a line, lost your cool, whatever. As a citizen and a father, I'm frankly glad you were questioned. Looking at the big picture, I too am upset when police abuse their powers - but hostile, angry youth tend to ignore every beneficial act performed by law enforcement and end up with a skewed perspective. Law enforcement mostly does good - like keeping tabs on someone who is in a mental state where they may do harm to themselves or someone else.

I mean really, what's your argument here? You were just angry and irrational but not really suicidal or homicidal? You aren't coming off very well here.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1408609

My position was, from the beginning, defense of my home.
I understand that the harsh wording can distract from that, but it doesn't change my intent of the email.

Every society needs a police force that's regulated by the people. I get that more than most believe it or not. I live in a pretty rough neighborhood and have actually needed the police on a couple of occasions. I've also seen mis-use of this power.
The LAW is the only entity that can legally deprive you of you life, liberty, and/or property. That's not a power I want coming through my door unannounced.

It's policy that needs change or people will continue to die. I'll be one of those people if it happens to me. You and your family could become a part of that statistic as well (if you lived in the US and) if someone botches an address.

I don't think my statement was out of line because it's a very serious matter that needs to be fixed. And considering I help pay my Congressman and my police's salary, I expect it to be fixed.
Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Just not police at my door. I never outright threatened anyone. I'm pretty sure it was clear that the only violence was going to be in my own defense.

The last part of your letter sounded like you were saying this:

This is the police action that I'm talking about defending myself against.

After Atlanta raid tragedy, new scrutiny of police tactics

Drug activity had moved down from the seedy "Bluff" neighborhood in northwest Atlanta onto her street. In the past year, she put up burglar bars and installed extra locks. At some point, she had gotten herself a gun.

But in a case that is raising increasing questions about police conduct and the use of "no-knock" warrants, the octogenarian Ms. Johnston ended up using the gun on police, rather than hood-wearing thugs. Last Tuesday, a team of police, who were conducting a "no-knock raid" in search of a drug dealer, burst into her home. Johnston opened fire. Three officers were wounded. Johnston was killed.

Sorry, as much as I hate Big Brother they did the right thing when you mentioned blood.

Back in the Reagan days I delivered a literature package to my state congressman's home address. Of course the guy didn't answer the door, but I probably got put on some kind of federal harmless nut list. If that happened today, I am sure you would have a swat team at your doorstep .

I was pretty agitated too because I heard a "War of the Worlds" type scare broadcast that warned about possible AIDS mutation that would cause Armageddon type devastation. I found out the hard way that Americans don't give a s**t even if 50 million Africans are infected by WHO, and you end up looking like Charlie McCarthy screaming "there everywhere, there everywhere".

Life's a bitch when you wake up and realize your congressmen and senators and even priests and popes are working for the same people that are trying to kill you. They got their agenda and the hell with you.

OP - Now that your on the list, perhaps it would be wise to conduct a search of your home as if you were the cops. Is there anything that could get you in deeper sh-- if they found it in your house? Apparently, no need for a warrant these days if you are on one of those lists. A slight running off at the mouth again could get your world turned upside down. Make sure all your weapons and ammunition are legal, no large amounts of cash, no illegal drugs, etc.

With your views and passion, and now on the list, and our civil liberties diminishing each day, you will need to take great care.

I understand the issues that you folks have with the wording I used in my communication with my Congressman.

But let me go ahead and say this:
I don't give 1/2 of a flying fuck, nor will I ever. I don't owe shit to my government OR its officials because they've given me absolutely NO REASON to respect them at all. I'll personally go take a big fat dump on Mr. Mulvaney's desk before I'll ever give up voicing my opinions.

The fact stands:

If police enter my home without announcing themselves, I'll be shooting at the intruders and will likely die in the process.
If I'm in a situation where bullets from police are coming through my windows from their trigger-happy pursuits on someone else, I'll be shooting back and will likely die in the process.

The fact that I've warned Mulvaney and his staff about this without them taking corrective action factually means that my blood is on their hands.
Frankly, I really don't care if they don't like my wording and I don't care if you don't like it either...The statement I made is 100% true.
And if it's not okay to email the truth to you representative, then that's one more thing to be concerned about.

I don't care if I'm on a "list" either. Big brother can shove it up his ass.
