I've yet to see a video of cops dishing out a beating with people calmly discussing the events that lead them to meeting the police to begin with...
 Quoting: BRIEF

Actually, my husband was talking about a vid he saw yesterday regarding 'violent protest' the included 6 people dancing silently (because they were listening to their ipods) in front of the Jefferson Memorial. Apparently the police got physical pretty fast.

They say they are going to 'dance' again on Saturday as well.

Edited to add the vid:

Oppressive power...Shooting up my neighborhood.

Take action...Shooting back.

Self defense.
Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Mick Mulvaney, my blood will be on your hands if a police officer acts in this way in my neighborhood. I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so. And thats why you morons are making the situation much worse. We stand a chance if we present ourselves as responsible adults, but idiotic statements like the one above just make the rest of us look bad.

I've dealt with cops all my life, some good, some bad, but not ONCE have they come to my house for saying something stupid.

And not once have I seen a video of someone getting a beat down from the Cops because they were just standing there. Every last one of these morons argues with the cop and then gets beat.

You all want to be "tough guys" and argue their right to arrest you, but obviously, the cops don't care. In their eyes your already guilty, so instead of making things worse, just take it and deal with it maturely.

I know, you have no interest in listening to anything I have to say, so just go ahead, threaten TPTB.. give those assholes in the Ivory Tower the ammo they need to lock us down tighter than Soviet Russia.

You were alluding to committing acts of violence against law enforcement via email to a congressman, dipshit.

You're lucky they didn't haul you in for questioning.

So you wouldn't take action against an oppressive power? You're the kind of person that sleeps well at night knowing that "big brother" has your back.

Kudos to you OP for writing your congressman.
You might have worded the letter differently, but at least your taking a proactive stance to try and change things for the better. Thank you............
COUNTRY FIRST

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
5. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

What are you a cop? whats with all the defence and sympathy for cops? sure some are okay but there are ALOT that aint, look at the disgusting behavior of the cops in DC and Virginia lately....

Plus most of them flagrantly dis-regard their oath to the constitution, like the OP said revolution usually aint pretty, and takes some balls, maybe if more people wrote letters of this nature they would get really concerned and back off from the obvious encroaching police state that we are now experiencing.........SOMETHING HAS to be done and i think people like the OP are leading the way....

You get lots of people on GLP spouting off about their weapons and the 2nd amendment but i bet 99% of them wouldnt have the balls to use them if push came to shove.......

Let me get this straight...

You have a college education, but didn't understand that the last paragraph was easily interpreted as your intent to kill law enforcement and die in the process?

You did have to take some English classes right?

Try to remember to proof read any correspondence you write to ANYONE in the future, and try to read it from the perspective of it's intended recipient.

Keep in mind that you are now on record for sending a letter mentioning violent intentions to a Government Official.

If you strike out again, you very well may have any number of charges laid down on you.

I suggest you put the pen down, and look to others to author your frustrations for you.

You showed very poor judgment in writing and sending this letter with that last paragraph included.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

I understand the issues that you folks have with the wording I used in my communication with my Congressman.

But let me go ahead and say this:
I don't give 1/2 of a flying fuck, nor will I ever. I don't owe shit to my government OR its officials because they've given me absolutely NO REASON to respect them at all. I'll personally go take a big fat dump on Mr. Mulvaney's desk before I'll ever give up voicing my opinions.

The fact stands:

If police enter my home without announcing themselves, I'll be shooting at the intruders and will likely die in the process.
If I'm in a situation where bullets from police are coming through my windows from their trigger-happy pursuits on someone else, I'll be shooting back and will likely die in the process.

The fact that I've warned Mulvaney and his staff about this without them taking corrective action factually means that my blood is on their hands.
Frankly, I really don't care if they don't like my wording and I don't care if you don't like it either...The statement I made is 100% true.
And if it's not okay to email the truth to you representative, then that's one more thing to be concerned about.

I don't care if I'm on a "list" either. Big brother can shove it up his ass.

Re: Police questioned me after an email to my congressman
Just minutes ago, the police left my house. They were "investigating" an email that I sent to my congressman. To give some context, I was reading an article here on GLP about police shooting up a neighorhood in NJ to kill a neighborhood dog : Thread: Police Fire Off 33 Rounds to Kill Dog, Bullets Hit Houses and Cars
My post is on page 2

I was frustrated and sent this email to my congressman (as I've done many times):

Good afternoon Congressman Mulvaney,

It has come to my attention that this nation needs a big change concerning law enforcement. It's not only cases such as the one in NJ recently about officers firing 33 rounds into homes and cars to kill a neighborhood dog, but personal cases of my own that I've actually witnessed here in SC.
The fact that police can use this excessive force whenever they want is unacceptable. I'm personally looking to YOU to help us change this. Not just in SC, but across the nation.
I should NEVER be afraid to speak to, see, or be around a police officer, but I am. In fact, every one of my peers feels the same way. As a 22 year old fresh out of college, the burden to sustain this country is going to be on MY shoulders soon. I will NOT have the only entity that can legally deprive its citizens of their life, liberty, and property free to run amok in this manner. It's a power that should be SEVERELY limited, and I certainly hope that you would agree.
Mick Mulvaney, my blood will be on your hands if a police officer acts in this way in my neighborhood. I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so. It's unfortunate that this is the nature of things these days and I certainly hope that you can help. Your job depends on it.

Thanks for your time,
-Cameron

A few moments ago, police knocked on my door to question me about it. I actually thought they were going to question me about an incident in the neighborhood recently, but to my surprise, mentioned my letter to Mick Mulvaney. They said that it sounded threatening and they were coming to just check on things...
One of the officers was actually a guy I went to highschool with, so I didn't make a scene or anything. I just thought that it was kind of strange that they'd be so on edge about this. I wonder if they investigate every irate citizen's emails to their congressmen...
 Quoting: googooflexy

This is what tripped the trigger: "Mick Mulvaney, my blood will be on your hands if a police officer acts in this way in my neighborhood. I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so."

--

You should realize that Congressmen are not culpable for anything they do; they're completely blameless and have no responsibility that they turned America into a police state with the repeated ABUSES of the so-called "Patriot" Act. Mick just wants to be a minor boob who does nothing for a few years except to turn over the country to the Corporation of Fascism so he can go live in the Baja and collect a massive pension for nothing.

Don't you get it?

They are above the law.

They can routinely violate any law they wish including trashing the entire Constitutional Bill of Rights.

And you're supposed to sit there and like "Dances with the Stars" while the cage door is slammed all over Amerika on the Merkans.

What's wrong with you?

If you don't like it, go get a fucking LAW DEGREE so you can be a JD and sue everyone. THEN, they'll let you say what you please and leave you alone (until they hire some thug to gun you down on the street for $30 and a fix of meth).

Take it from an old hand here:

ORGANIZE with like-minded people whom you can trust with your life.

ARM yourselves with a major arsenal.

PREPARE for when the economy finally goes belly-up (and it surely will very soon).

PREPARE for self-sufficiency so you don't need no-steenking-police-or-grocery-store-or-anybody-else.

DRILL and PRACTICE for this to test your systems' effectiveness.

And, when Judgement Day arrives (and it most certainly will) be ready to mete out what has been meted out... be the embodiment of karma on anyone who seeks to bother your organization.

This is the Way.

Be the Way.

OP, stop.

Don't try to play sane moderator all of the sudden.

Especially after what happened to Giffords, I think it's entirely reasonable that police would come check on someone who wrote an unbalanced letter mentioning dying in the act of taking action... I think that's suggestive of a certain mindset that could be assumed to be on the edge or just plain coo coo crazy.

You went over a line, lost your cool, whatever. As a citizen and a father, I'm frankly glad you were questioned. Looking at the big picture, I too am upset when police abuse their powers - but hostile, angry youth tend to ignore every beneficial act performed by law enforcement and end up with a skewed perspective. Law enforcement mostly does good - like keeping tabs on someone who is in a mental state where they may do harm to themselves or someone else.

I mean really, what's your argument here? You were just angry and irrational but not really suicidal or homicidal? You aren't coming off very well here.
