Man from Modesto User ID: 1137629 United States 05/31/2011 06:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mick Mulvaney, my blood will be on your hands if a police officer acts in this way in my neighborhood. I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so. It's unfortunate that this is the nature of things these days and I certainly hope that you can help. Your job depends on it. "I WILL take action" sounds like a threat to me. The police were acting responsibly. You should have omitted the last paragraph. -MFM Pray or be defeated. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1099462 Australia 05/31/2011 06:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is a good thread for problem solving and social behaviour . My contemplations on the matter are as such. everyone agrees that you did not state things in that last paragraph in suitable language . It is so easy to get intentions wrong in written communications . So I suggest that you re-write to the senator apologising to him if his previous letter caused him alarm and assure him that it is a mis communications on your behalf . Then state what you actually want to convey about how it is making you feel with all this gun business in your street and area and that as a result of police radomly shooting dogs as a common practice now that you no longer feel secure in your own home or walking down the street as bullets can fly off in any directions and hit you or any passers by as has happened recently . Just let them know that you are feeling unsafe and in danger and can there be found another way to deal with dogs and offenders without the use of guns . |
El Samyaza User ID: 1072087 United States 05/31/2011 06:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just minutes ago, the police left my house. They were "investigating" an email that I sent to my congressman. To give some context, I was reading an article here on GLP about police shooting up a neighorhood in NJ to kill a neighborhood dog : Thread: Police Fire Off 33 Rounds to Kill Dog, Bullets Hit Houses and Cars Quoting: googooflexyMy post is on page 2 I was frustrated and sent this email to my congressman (as I've done many times): Good afternoon Congressman Mulvaney, It has come to my attention that this nation needs a big change concerning law enforcement. It's not only cases such as the one in NJ recently about officers firing 33 rounds into homes and cars to kill a neighborhood dog, but personal cases of my own that I've actually witnessed here in SC. The fact that police can use this excessive force whenever they want is unacceptable. I'm personally looking to YOU to help us change this. Not just in SC, but across the nation. I should NEVER be afraid to speak to, see, or be around a police officer, but I am. In fact, every one of my peers feels the same way. As a 22 year old fresh out of college, the burden to sustain this country is going to be on MY shoulders soon. I will NOT have the only entity that can legally deprive its citizens of their life, liberty, and property free to run amok in this manner. It's a power that should be SEVERELY limited, and I certainly hope that you would agree. Mick Mulvaney, my blood will be on your hands if a police officer acts in this way in my neighborhood. I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so. It's unfortunate that this is the nature of things these days and I certainly hope that you can help. Your job depends on it. Thanks for your time, -Cameron A few moments ago, police knocked on my door to question me about it. I actually thought they were going to question me about an incident in the neighborhood recently, but to my surprise, mentioned my letter to Mick Mulvaney. They said that it sounded threatening and they were coming to just check on things... One of the officers was actually a guy I went to highschool with, so I didn't make a scene or anything. I just thought that it was kind of strange that they'd be so on edge about this. I wonder if they investigate every irate citizen's emails to their congressmen... op, how quickly you forget [link to abcnews.go.com] your lucky your not in jail right now |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1400436 United States 05/31/2011 06:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | did the congressman send them your way, or did they intercept this email? Quoting: JosivI don't think the congressman ever saw it actually. You probably should have left out the last paragraph. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1408340Yeah dude you shouldnt mention your gonna die and your blood is on his hands... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1165831Durrrrrrrrrrrrr "I WILL take action against an oppressive power of this nature, and will likely die doing so." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1322813Sorry, OP, but if I was your Congressman and received an email containing that line, I would have called the police, too. I want to make sure you've all read the article that I was referring to when I posted this. Police put 33 bullet holes in houses and cars in a crowded neighborhood to shoot a non-threatening neighborhood dog. So...YES, I'll shoot back if that happens in my neighborhood. AND I'll likely die from it. When bullets are coming through your windows and drywall, what will your reaction be? It's simple fight or flight...I choose to fight. THAT'S what I mean by the statement. But I can certainly see how someone who didn't read the article I was referring to could take it badly. "My blood is on your hands" may have been a bit much lol, but honestly this is not that much worse than any of the others I've sent which includes large amounts of swearing, etc... Yep, they didn't understand that "blood" meant that when you "die" because of the unchecked power and brutality, it will be his fault. Basically, they thought you were talking "suicide by cop" type stuff. Opposing them and getting shot. ...which, is what I thought you meant too. Not that its bad, but they don't take kindly to people that speak out about opposing the frameworkk of tyranny. Just be a little more careful with your words next time. Kudos for doing it though. I salute you! |
