Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1394849I can't figure out if the whole thing is staged or not. If it's NOT, then this is the best show on TV. If you are a true conspiracy theorist then his show is a fake and he is a super shill. True conspiracy theorists cannot believe anything that another individual promulgates, everyone is suspect. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1411328 United States 06/02/2011 09:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I watched this last night. The movie theater scene had a continuity error. The first person they interviewed after letting the viewers out into the lobby said something like "it was the funniest thing I've ever scene", but that same person was scene awake during the hypnosis. He was a young male, brown hair, glasses, mid 20's, blue hoodie sweatshirt. Why would one of the 15% that did not get hypnotized say 'it was funny'. I suppose he never said the movie was funny and was referring to people being hypnotized as funny. |

When Keith Barry takes of the man's blazer you can see a wire go from his collar to his microphone thing on the back of his belt. After the commercial it isn't seen. it was probably a second take or something. I'm not sure if he's fake but this has got me suspicious now. |

So in that sense, I absolutely believe the show it is real. It is an exhibition of his skills. BUT, it is still TV ... which is fake. i.e. They plan out these stunts in advance. They attempt everything multiple times, and cut out the attempts that don't work as expected. They film planned and rehearsed scenes as filler programming, etc. I agree that it is a great program!! It really opened my eyes to the power of suggestion (where we see things around us and assimilate that information without being aware that we even saw it in the first place!) |

baronmad User ID: 1496509 Sweden 08/06/2011 09:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well as i see it, its all fake. there have been over 100 scientific studies of hypnosis, and they have all been very conclusive on one subject, you can never make someone do something that is against their nature. Along with that of the studies made hypnosis only works on about 40-50% of the human population and it does not work the way it is showed in the program. 90% of everyone that has been subject to working hypnosis says that it does not resemble sleep at all, nor do you lose consciousness during the "programming" and they do remember what was said during the hypnosis. there is more to that ofcourse. to hypnotizise someone will take roughly 30-45 minutes. now this being an american show (wich does say one hell of a lot about it) we can deduct a few things, what the show is mostly about is forcefeeding you with nonsense, slowing down own thoughts (you are not required to have one single thought during the show) this resembles the majority of american shows ive seen. and here at the end, most of american shows are only there to instill some sort of fear for things no one has to be afraid of. "monsters inside me" comes to mind. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1548194 Bulgaria 09/13/2011 01:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I watched the first episode last week. I noticed something contradictory. In the scene with the shooter who fired in a target with a real body size, Keith first touched his left arm, then his chest and his head. After the shots, they both were talking about right arm. That's why I think that all is just a nice illusion show, but nothing real. The same as Chris Angel's show. |

I do not know that the show is true and I do not endorse it or deny it, BUT I am able to do many of the cheap tricks he does and have done them before. Quoting: dickiebanner 1434009He's right, it is... how is that possible for this guy to be randomly selected for both shows..? aw man I really liked this show but now... this doesn't make sense. It's not a case of "random selection" at all. Conan's show is filmed in LA, right? So was this episode of "Deception" (maybe they all are?). Keith Barry stated that he put out an ad asking for men between 20 and 25 yrs old to take part in a psychological test for a TV show about sleep. It's not unlikely that a guy who has already put himself up for being on Conan as a 'fan correspondent' would also respond to another ad which involves him being on TV. Furthermore, if Conan's team selected him from a group of applicants, it's not so unlikely that Keith Barry's team might see the same qualities in John that they are looking for... Anybody notice the toll-free number listed on the license plate frames of the cars in the Car Dealership episode? Quoting: RandomWorld 1434066 1-888-747-3717 I searched it on the internet and it isn't listed to any business, let alone a Gulliver's USA. Haven't tried calling the number, but I just thought that was interesting... This is a TV show - while much of what we see may be real, changing visible phone numbers and other such sensitive information is not unusual. The dealership may well not have wanted people all over the world to know how to contact them. They just want to sell cars, not field calls from people asking them if the show is real or faked. At about 10 or 11 minutes in the black ops episode right before they go to commercial he shows a small preview of the yellow shirt guy he stops on the street. When Keith Barry takes of the man's blazer you can see a wire go from his collar to his microphone thing on the back of his belt. After the commercial it isn't seen. it was probably a second take or something. I'm not sure if he's fake but this has got me suspicious now. Quoting: rigger106 1436220 The clip before the ad is just a longer edit - the one in the next part is edited tighter so the line under his shirt is not as obvious since we don't have as long to see it. If you look closely, it is visible in both edits. What it is, I have no idea but there is no "microphone thing on the back of his belt" visible in either edit. The point I'm making is that, while you might suspect that to be a microphone cable, that's no reason to invent supporting evidence such as the idea there was more than one take of that scene or that the guy had a radio mic box on his trouser belt. I'm not saying the show isn't faked - I find it difficult to believe much of what Keith Barry claims to be doing in the shows. However, I've not yet seen anything in the shows themselves, other than the very idea of mind control, that suggests to me that it's not real. Which is what you'd expect from a well made show - real or fake. This is why the show is appealing to me - I'm really not sure whether to believe it or not. Oh, one last thing - T H E M O O N I S C L E A R... |
Redstar User ID: 8003022 Hong Kong 12/31/2011 03:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The show was aired in hong kong these few weeks. One thing I believe is plausible- if sleeper agent via hypnosis can be produced, that would explain why lee Harvey Oswald was not able to rem that he ever shot JFK. It's said that Oswald had visited his psychiatrist forbtreatment in the past and this might explain the sleeper agent creation theory. |

Many things what he said was in other show on Discovery Channel. If that other show was real, then in this show are real things, the other part may be fake, may be real. I'm sure that Keith knows the truth. As I said, since we all watched it, and thinking about it, the show is a success, and imo thats the real point of the show... to be a success. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 3429265 India 03/07/2012 07:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, the episodes were aired here last week ... and I've been thinking abt them since the week-end .... and looking out for future episodes (are there any more?) .... SO in that sense ... the show is surely a success!! And more so as I'm a skeptic. As for the reality part ... surely some things are plausible and possible .... reading eye movements, body language, sense of touch (reading palms to improve ur chances to get laid!) .... I dont think one needs Kieth Barry to teach u these things! The power of suggestion (3 of diamonds for a class of psycology students etc), playing tricks using peripheral vision, tunnel vision and pseudo-hynosis (by creating confusion, distraction etc) .... these are also pretty well documented too. Add a few more in the reality kart .... those like the "street magic" stuff. But hypnosis .... well thats debatable ... sleeper agents!! (if only it was that easy, we wouldnt need CIA or ISI farms for agents or suicide terrorists (resp). And surely the chinks would've discovered it by now. I absolutely dont believe, its possible to "hypnotise" someone in 5 seconds flat and make him beg or (worse) drop cash in a trash can. For that matter, no matter how well practised an eye u have, you cnnot judge the ladies choice of flower by observing her for two minutes (and the colour of the damn flower too!) To be fair, even he concedes that its not possible to "read" or hypnotise everyone. Infact, I must remark that its rather easy to fall into a peaceful sleep by the methods shown in such shows (relax ur body, trance like sermon, feel the relaxation in ur toes etc). Incidently, my wife is taking yoga lessons and has reported that there were a few instances where while doing meditation, she went into a "blacked out" state. (But it only happened to three out of twenty or so present). So while hypnosis may be a reality, it probably doesnot affect the vast majority of us and certainly not as dramatically as they show. My final answer - The easy parts are REAL ... and the other (read 'FAKE') parts are cleverly staged. But the show is certainly entertaining (and thats why its on TV!!). |
