Interesting. I'm not one to take random sites as fact so I did a quick search.

"ABSTRACT:
A solar storm is a storm of ions and electrons from the Sun. Large solar storms are usually preceded by solar flares, phenomena that can be characterized quantitatively from Earth. Twenty-five of the thirty-eight largest known solar flares were observed to start when one or more tide-producing planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Jupiter) were either nearly above the event positions (<10° longitude) or at the opposing side of the Sun. The probability for this to happen at random is 0.039 percent.

This supports the hypothesis that the force or momentum balance (between the solar atmospheric pressure, the gravity field, and magnetic field) on plasma in the looping magnetic field lines in solar corona could be disturbed by tides, resulting in magnetic field reconnection, solar flares, and solar storms. Separately, from the daily position data of Venus, Earth, and Jupiter, an 11-year planet alignment cycle is observed to approximately match the sunspot cycle.

This observation supports the hypothesis that the resonance and beat between the solar tide cycle and nontidal solar activity cycle influences the sunspot cycle and its varying magnitudes. The above relations between the unpredictable solar flares and the predictable solar tidal effects could be used and further developed to forecast the dangerous space weather and therefore reduce its destructive power against the humans in space and satellites controlling mobile phones and global positioning satellite (GPS) systems."

If you check, you will find that I was arguing against a little BS comet causing any effects. If you check further, you will see where I actually made predictions of earthquakes being caused by planetary alignments.

And they didn't give me a sliver or recognition for making the discovery. I also discovered positions on the Sun that sunspots repeatedly form over and a method for predicting solar x ray flares with 97.5% overall accuracy as it relates to timing and intensity.

That's just scientists for you, at least too many of them. They are in love with their Appeal To Authority fallacies, and their educational hoops through which they've jumped are their rationalization as to why such fallacies should reign the intellectual world. Too often they're just as polarized as the rest of society, picking a story and then sticking to it, creating a paradigm to which they forever then warp the data in order to make a fit.

it was the "comet Elenin the facts" thread, someone was saying about this alignment stuff and im sure it was you and a few others said to watch for another comet, HOLMES, i think, although you said that that wasn't dangerous either, anyway, yup, plenty of lies on GLP :-)

I saved the paper for future, more thorough reading. In the meantime, a scan of the text shows that the author gives Venus and Jupiter significant powers:

"...The tide-driving gravities of Venus and Jupiter are about equal and are about twice those of Earth and Mercury..."

"...the most influential planets [are] Venus and Jupiter..."

Can't wait to find out what that is all about.

Notice I had a pinned thread? You think maybe I was going to checkout the posts in the thread and saw this title? Naw, that would be too logical for some of you.
