aw, man, I'm so sorry to hear that. People in New England are not used to tornadoes, which are rare. They don't know about putting as many walls between you and the storm, or going tot he lowest part of the building. I don't think the damage will e catastrophic but I believe any level of storm that has a debris ball like we see now, will result in MORE injuries than otherwise we'd see in a southern state

weather guys on weather channel saying that the situation and signature of the storms in MA now are like Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. "It is even more well-formed" they said, there is a huge debris ball, and the storm is moving rapidly and people may not "even see it coming."

Maybe its because i live in the midwest, but I don't understand the recent tornado doom threads.

A tornado watch really isn't that serious. Anytime there is a decently strong storm there seems to be a tornado warning somewhere within its range.

I realize tornadoes in the northeast aren't real common, but come on people.

Hmm, I am bringing my mom to a Paul Simon concert in Boston. Leaving in an hour.

No longer a watch in Springfield, MA ...

it is very very rare. I lived in new England for 45 years. They do not have tornado sirens, they can't see them coming, and they don't expect them to. The issue is that they don't know how to protect themselves and then injuries rise.

On the conspiracy side, it could be due to weather wars and it could be due to imminent apocalypse. Come on, yourself, lol, tornadoes in Springfield Mass??

They are so rare that they don't even have tornado sirens. Nothing but local news to let them know. On the east coast we are usually able to prepare for weather situations days in advance (hurricanes, blizzards, etc.). And it's also rush hour. Traffic around major cities on the east coast during rush hour is NOT where you'd want to be if a tornado is heading your way.

That. NYC isn't rural or even suburban, it's a dense ass city with tons of traffic and people populating it.

The weather channel said moisture would make it worse, that the only reason it wasn't worse earlier is that the air was dry (even though it's humid, just not humid enough).
