Ultimately, if/when there are pole shifts, gravitational shifts due to a near-pass by a comet, or crazy tectonic plate movements that cause intense earthquakes and volcanoes, it will be best to be far away from the edge of a plate, far inland, and at least several thousand feet high. I doubt TPTB would be moving their government HQ to places like Denver, Colorado (4,500 feet high and 1,000 miles inland) and building HUGE cities in China like the original article points out, if SOMETHING wasn't suspected to be coming shortly.

Radiation is a fear, but with Potassium Iodide and kelp, unless you're right in the blast zone, you can survive. I'd be more worried about living near millions of other people at sea level.
