omg, last time this happened and it was NOT this big, was japan, wasn't it?

well, that's unclear. other indicators indicate more quiet conditions. however, two CMEs have recently been observed. here's the latest overview.

well, I found this raw data off of NOAA and wanted to let you folks know.

so use an analagy to get your point across to the people who are not at your level in 'proton flux'

I suggested when you all thought a CME was coming in late June 4, that when it came, it would be called a interplanetary shock. It was. And it registered around 90 protons on the Goes satellites, which are closer to earth than ACE. ACE said 22 max with several missing periods of data.

The halo CME alert of Jun 04, 03:06 concerns a back sided plasma cloud.
This is visible in STEREO B - COR2 images. No geomagnetic disturbance is
expected. The halo CME alert of Jun 04, 22:05 concerns a plasma cloud
ejected from the backside of the Sun. It shows as a partial halo CME in
STEREO A - COR2 images. No geomagnetic disturbance is expected. The halo
CME alert of Jun 05, 05:56 concern a plasma cloud ejected from the
visible side of the Sun but well above the ecliptic. In SDO AIA 304 and
193 images, we see plasma in the NE being ejected. Depending of the
extend of the shock in front the CME, Earth may experience a glancing
blow. No strong geomagnetic disturbance is expected however.

it resulted from the blast we got late June 4.

not related to this, these are just some of the small sunspots playing around. Not related to the proton flux.

this is on the back of the sun, will not affect us.

no alerts in effect right now.

Protons can be generated from other sources besides the sun. no?
