I am so sorry to hear about your mother, but as OP says , everything has to die sometime and having your Mum on oxygen 24/7 is very frightening for you and her, but it will happen and I hope that you find peace with her passing, it may take a long time it may be only a short wait but it is truly magnificent on the other side and when she and you and me get there we will wonder why did we hold on so tightly to this life when the real life is over there. You are a damn good person to luv your Mum so much...I love my Mum too and I know it will be a bloody hard day when she leaves but a great one when we meet again.

Even without the solar flares the power grid in the United States is old. Extended blackouts are in our future from simple neglect. Power companies have chosen profits over reinvestment in infrastructure.

it went down in 2003 and after a couple of days it went back up, if it goes down, they move hell and creation to get it up again, pity the internet age occurred in a solar minimumus stage and not a solar max, if it was solar max, it would have been harder but way more secure.

Very, very true. But not only is it old, it was designed wrong. Our national grid was not designed with terrorists in mind.

I have read a testimony from a fellow who says he has personal knowledge about the vulnerability of the entire grid. That's my home, your home and everyones home. Plus the grocery store, gas station and everywhere else. It's a spooky scenario. One bomb, not neccessarily an emp, over or in a particular city will wipe out the entire grid. Sounded impossible.
