It's listed as 9 for Kauai today. I've already been outside for the past 2 hrs with no sunscreen - never use the noxious stuff. We do have scattered cloud cover today though which is good since I plan on being outside at least 3 more hours.

Indeed, and a hello to you to.

I was chatting with my 12 year old daughter, telling her about how when I was a kid, parents and teachers told us not to stare at the sun. She looked at me stupefied and said, "Look at the sun?!? You can't even look up at the clouds anymore without it hurting your eyes!"

By golly, she is correct.

How did you create/build this metallic grid plus aluminum shielding? Can you post a picture please?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 755615

No pics. But it's easy to picture. First, get some window screens, some Reflectix, some foil tape and some baking pans. Lay window screen on floor. Put Reflectix on top and tape it to the screen with the foil tape. Then lay some baking sheets on top of that and foil tape those to the rest. That gets you one panel. Repeat until you have as much as you feel you need. You can also throw pennies or other coins into the baking pans for extra shielding. I did that for my main one, just junk coins. Probably helps some too.

Re: Holy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the UV index for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The sun feels VERY hot to me today, so I decided to check the EPA's UV index map.

[link to www.epa.gov]

Here is the scale the map is based on:
[link to www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov]

In some areas of the country, it is off the charts with the lower half of the country almost all in the 10-13 range. When the UV index is a 10, the EPA recommends ""SPF 15, protective clothing, sun glasses and avoid being in the sun between 10am to 4pm.

Why is the UV index so high? Is this a result of the latest CME? Is it because the magnetosphere is weakening?
 Quoting: ~fish out of water~

How are you gonna get vitamin D? It is extremely beneficial to your health so go stand outside for 30 minutes (for Caucasians) without sunblock to get shitload of vitamin D then put on sunblock or go inside. For people with dark skin, 6-10 times longer so they don't really need sunblock.

By the way, the earth is slowly tilting south and north all year long. North hemisphere is tilting more toward the sun resulting more direct sunlight. Strongest UV will be on June 21st aka Summer Solstice which is the longest day of the year for north hemisphere and shortest day for south hemisphere.

Thanks, and that makes sense. Would you happen to have a link for that info? I would love to read it.
 Quoting: ~fish out of water~

Nope. This isn't easy to figure out, nor do TPTB want people knowing this is going on. When those eight people sickened at the beach, when it was only 88 degrees, did they mention this? Hell no. People would panic.

You'll have to dig it all up the hard way, same as I did. Research the health effects of those types of radiation first. Look at your microwave shielding - a grid. How do they spray the braium-infused chemtrails? Between us and the Sun, and in a grid.

So, I was having some of those symptoms - the ear-ringing, pressure headaches, and the night sweats, so I did a test. I put up a metallic grid plus some aluminum shielding between me and the sky. Poof, symptoms disappeared and haven't returned.

Without our normal planetary protection, we are astronauts. Research what astronauts do to protect themselves - aluminum is what they mainly use, though gold and large quantities of water would probably work better.

And notice when the animals drop dead, they're always so fast to declare them safe to eat. That's because A) they know what's killing them; and B) the radiation doesn't make them unsafe to eat, it just kills them.

Also, check out the rise in violence, worldwide. The brain damage manifests many different ways. Depression, dementia, speaking gibberish like those reporters (that's damage to the speech center of the brain), schizophrenia, personality changes and psychosis. Apparently the psychosis is pretty common, which may mean we WILL have something like a zombie apocalypse, as more peoples' neurology succumbs.

By all means, no need to believe me. You can bet your life that I'm wrong if you wish. Me, I'm just gonna stay under shielding and see what happens. Better safe than sorry when it's my brain and internal organs, is the way I'm thinking.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1417258

I will indeed do my own research, especially because I have many of the same symptoms (ears ringing, headaches, and additionally a strong aversion to being outside during the daylight hours). Between 10 & 4? That is the prime time to get your Vit. D for your body to convert to D3. I was out in the sun for almost an hour while I was waiting for hubby to come & help me when my car left me stranded.

I don't use sunscreen. Skin cancer rates have actually gone UP since the widespread use of sunscreen. Have you seen all of the chemicals that are in those?

Re: Holy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the UV index for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although the most immediate effects of sun-damage are endured by the surface epidermal layer of our skin in the form of sunburns and drying, over time, exposure to UV radiation can penetrate deep into the underlying dermis and negatively effect the collagen structures within (a process called photoaging). This results in an eventual reduction in skin elasticity and the development of wrinkles. In addition, the alteration of these collagen structures can weaken the tiny blood vessels that are supported within them, making the vessels more likely to rupture and lead to discoloration as well as decreased circulation.

The truth is that as much as 90 percent of the wrinkles, brown spots, and sagging skin that we usually think of as signs of aging can be attributed to sun damage, this according to the the American Skin Association, a national organization for education on skin health. What's worse, skin cancer is now the most common cancer, striking more than 800,000 annually in the U.S.

Which is not to say that panic is in order. While these dangers are real and should be taken seriously, diligent use of sunscreen as well as a daily moisturizer -- especially one enhanced with antioxidants -- capable of replenishing essential oils lost to the sun, can go a long way towards helping skin withstand many of the external causes of aging.

Re: Holy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the UV index for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a 10 here in WI. I did a little work outside but then came is as I felt too hot and the wind was blowing kind of strong, too. Hard to do anything when the wind blows like that. The work can wait... at least I got a bit of it done. Mostly I've been trying to stay indoors as much as possible.

But I will keep an eye on the UV index.

Can that stuff or Fukashima radiation cause people to have mental problems? In the last few weeks I have run into 3 different people who had trouble counting money at stores or the bank. The bank teller had to count it 7 times! And the person at the bill payment place kept miscounting, too. And just last Sunday the person at the theater was confused when I gave her some quarters (paper money plus some quarters) for a soda. It's like she stared at them for a long time, as if she had forgotten how to count them. Finally she snapped out of it and gave me my change of 3 pennies and poured my soda. There was other people in line behind me so there was no reason to stall. I thought it was really odd.

Has anyone else been seeing this problem, where clerks or tellers who handle money all of the time suddenly have problems counting it? I've never seen this before (previous years) but then 3 times in less than a month!

Re: Holy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the UV index for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your symptoms, I have seen this same list posted as exposure to radiation. What/where is your original source?
 Quoting: Merry Oaks

Someone with an EPA RadNet account posted the radiation readings for the country in a thread here, and they were high, starting in January (so not Fukushima). That's what got me wondering enough to perform my experiment to see if my health effects would disappear.

The EPA RadNet readings just showed high beta and gamma. Well, that's what the Sun gives off, in the form of microwaves, x-rays and cosmic rays. So I went digging through medical literature on the net to see what I could find out about chronic exposure to x-rays and microwaves and cosmic rays. Unsurprisingly, there is not much information (moral issues there), mostly related to radiation TREATMENT. Well, that's kinda what we're getting - involuntary radiation treatment. That's why the symptomology is virtually the same. Radiation beaming you from above is the same as radiation beaming you from a device. Maybe not as potent, but you're getting hit every day.

Look around for threads here. I listed some of the medical sources I came across in one of them. I didn't save anything because frankly, I didn't think anyone would believe me until it started slapping them in the face personally. Which it is now, so now I do wish I'd saved everything.

Again, I'm not out to twist anyone's arms here. I'm not selling anything, I'm not hawking anything. I do care about my fellow human beings so I am speaking up. But everyone will have to make their own decisions regarding their own health.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1417258

I've actually researched the effects of different types of radiation on neurological function, specifically memory, and came to the same conclusion. Though, like you, I did not save the links. I'll have to put together a concise thread with links one of these days. But, some of the effects that stood out were memory impairment and inability to think clearly, depression, among others.

Re: Holy CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the UV index for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That "skin smoking" part sounds really bad! It sounds like you may have been infected with the Vampire Virus! chuckle

lol, I think it just depends on how close you live to the southern HIGH UV zone. I think instincts tell you it's not worth it to push it on high UV days.

It really is a noticeable hazard. You simply feel the sun singeing you. Hard to explain or understand maybe if you have not experienced it. Nor has it always been this way.

Probably a combo of factors has upped the risk. We definitely have a hazy bright screen of clouds all day that seem to catch the heat and rays and do a dual greenhouse effect here in the lower central and southern east Texas.

Yep and it's been that way for a few weeks.
...so how would one go about building a shelter from penetrating radiation? Aluminum siding, copper, steel, lead...

When I wake up in the mornings my blood vessels are all nice and flat. By the end of the day they are standing out prominently. I have about half of those symptoms BTW.. especially my skin burning like I've been sunburnt by the end of the day even when I'm holed up inside.
