PIN!!! BREAKING NEWS TORNADO HITS RHODE ISLAND RIGHT NOW

I have a shit ton of friends, plus my in-laws in Rhode Island...and I've heard nothing of the such.

I think it's just tornado paranoia after that tornado that hit in Springfield & Sturbridge, MA.

I'm not convinced many people up there know enough about Tornadoes to have any clue as to what is a Tornado, and what isn't. That's not a diss on your family by any means, that's just a general observation I've made. I watched a funnel cloud go over the Pawtucket/Providence line a couple years ago...watched it spin over top of me...and no one around me even had a clue what was going on.

I'm moving back there in a few weeks actually, and I'm making it my goal...being from Indiana, to help educate some of my friends and family on Tornado safety...because with all this crazy weather hitting places it normally doesn't...they need to be prepared.

And I'm a firm supporter, in Tornado Sirens being placed up in that vicinity of the country. Yeah, they may not be used often...but it's better to have that protection, than not have it at all.

I am at work in Providence and about 2:20am we had a cell of some sort come through. It blew open the doors where I work, there is tons of debris outside, downed trees. The rain was intense with hail and wind. I would not be surprised if there was a minor tornado in the area. It was pretty scarey here.

Well, I live in Providence RI...I can't tell you exactly what it was , but a tornado like phenomenon just happened at 2:05ish am, one of the trees in my yard is completely off its foundation roots and everything this tree is taller than a 3 story house and in my neighborhood looks like all the tall trees are knock down. We have no power and according to the NationalGrid our power supply company the west end area and part of the south side areas of providence are the only affect areas. As of now no casualties have been reported, all I can say is that Once more God has shown his mercy towards Providence.

I'll have to check into this then. I knew there were storms and such, but didn't think they were that bad.

Might not have been tornadic, could have just been strong ass straight line winds...they can uproot trees too if they're strong enough...

I know some people in North Providence, so I'll have to talk to them later today.

My father-in-law is on a fire department up there, he'll hear something I'm sure if it was that bad.

The weather is nuts, even Northern Ireland uk had one yesterday apparently.

Everyone is just being paranoid. It was probably a strong gust of wind, which is certainly not impossible.

I'm moving back up there in a few weeks...so I'll get to experience what's going on up there first hand

I was in the Federal Hill section of Providence. I never said there was a tornado. I said there was a strong cell of some sort that passed over. The rain, hail, and wind was intense where I was. This morning I am seeing lots of debris on the roads and downed trees and stuff like that. No house or building damage. It was a pretty strong thunderstorm I know that.

I was driving home from shake when hale hit my car....winds got crazy and I flew back to my friends house in cranston...an hour later when I thought the storm was gone I couldnt get down the highway....Trees were up lifted , people out on the street talking about what had just happend. I have pics of my 3rd attempt home at 5 am when I could see where I was driving....it def was a tornado and it was a nightmare!!!

woops sorry im late.....yes it was def a tornado. Small tornado, luckily it did minimal damage.

i work in the forestry dept. some crazy shit hit us last night. i don't know if it was a tornado but roger williams park looks like an abomb went off. been cutting up massive fallen trees allk over wards 9'10 '11. vey localized hit.

You guys have no clue wha you're talking about! There was a tornado i saw it with my own eyes elmwood av. Was destroyed flooded tress ripped from the root up and.my power went out.. it was around 2 a.m .... don't worry about thesse people they don't know what they're talking about I witnessed it and I also called 911 and they told me its just a thunder storm I laughed nd was like wow are you serious?????? It hailed bigger than usuall and all so for those of you who think people are just amagining well maybe insted of being asleep u should've been up lmfao..... it was crazy we ran in the basement my best friend was scremming tornado she almost had a heart attack lol
