Letting people go 99 weeks with paid benefits disuades them to look for a job.

20 weeks isn't enough but 99 is too much.

i tried to hire a paralegal for my law firm....i met with two ladies drawing unemployment....both said that my offer was about what they were getting on unemployment benefits so why would the come to work for just a little more money when they could get the same amount and not have to work for 52 weeks.

i couldnt believe it...i said, well at the end of your 52 weeks, this job wont be available and you are not guaranteed another job will be either...take it while you can....they both declined.

amazing..

now im seeing an article that says companies arent hiring people that have been sitting on unemployment for all that time...they have lost skills and initiative...

moral of the story, benefits are temporary and you better look for and take a job as soon as you can. dont just sit there on benefits because you can...
