The better thing to do would be to call the cops and say "I can smell ammonia coming from my neighbor's house" Why not go ask them first? See people like you always spying on everyone on the block, Your one of those wanna be cops..lol....When the SHTF your neighbors will take extra special care of you..lol

I would suggest a strong anonymous report, from a phone not your own, some people are vicious if they are caught by someone they know. You can say something like every time you pass by there the smell is bad etc. It could be a cat person living there, or drugs. I had a meth house down the street but I cannot remember the smell now, was several years ago.

The problem is; If it is a meth lab or some other drug manufacturing operation, saying something to whomever lives there could potentially put you in danger. Just do an anonymous tip to the cops.

If...you...can...smell...ammonia...all...the...way...from...y​our...neighbor's...house...they...are...probably...cooking...​meth.

Even if they had 19 or 20 cats and were hoarders, you wouldn't smell ammonia from YOUR PORCH.

I have to agree with with you on this. It is never wrong to be on the winning team. The police should know that way they can make an informed choice. Think how you'll feel if it turns up that it was something and you just watched.

Its most likely a meth lab. I lived next to a meth lab for 2 years. if you call just do a anonymous tip from a phone thats not yours.

It is really good that you live in a nice enough neighborhood to do that. Not everyone, though, has the option of walking up to their neighbor's house and asking why their house smells like a meth lab and then walking alive and unscathed back to their own house.

I'm wouldn't normal advise him to call the cops but if their cooking meth and he goes snooping around asking questions it might just get him shot.

Just remember if you do inform the police, more than likely swat will bust in and kill everyone. So, just for my own conscience, I would make sure first. I wouldn't want that on my hands. I can deal with armed criminals, but when they are mafia like, only bigger and everywhere with cameras that watch everything, not so much.

There's a neighborhood watch , wouldn't look to good if there was a meth lab on the street. If the other tenants have a shitload of cats it could just be used cat litter sitting in a hot ass garbage bin (I said in an earlier post that their garbage bin is located near their house in between the mine and theirs). Still though... thats a lot of cat piss.

umm, it could be something a little less sinister than a meth lab, maybe an animal hoarder. Cat urine smells a lot stronger than dog, but if you get enough of either one you could smell it from next door, or further.

So, what pot is okay, but meth isn't?
