I think it's worse when a guy has to lie just to make the woman feel better about her fat self when she's in denial. There should be a law that fat people should NOT be allowed to wear spandex. I have raised my four sons to tell the truth--even to me, their mother. They have learned not to tell people what they "want to hear" at the expense of honest truth.

This is the exact example I have used with my sons to teach them not to be cowed into being manipulated by their wives. If she is going to ask, then she damn well needs to be prepared to hear what you REALLY think. I told the boys long ago that when they got married, sooner or later, their wives would ask questions to which they did not want truthful answers, and that, to be real men, they could not lose their courage and become dissemblers. There are a lot of spoiled, pampered, (and fat) American women out there who just might have a fighting chance if their husbands had the backbone to tell them that "Yes, Honey, those Cheetos are starting to show up on your backside, and yes, Honey, all those hours watching TV like a sloppy lump are staring to make you look like a tractor from behind".

There would be some fights, but there would also be some who got off their @@Ses and started to take care of themselves.
