You won't like this but most Europeans consider Americans to be very loud and rude and to us you are.
It's a cultural thing, not necessarely personal or snobism (although it may be sometimes).
Your table manners are horrible compared to how we are brought up and even if you do make an effort you talk very loud.

I don't hate Americans quite the contrary, a lot of my friends and clients are American. You guys just need to take off your blinders sometimes and look at the world outside of your own country. Also the Canary Islands are a magnet for pompous twats, what do you expect?
