Will the Sun turn into a magnetic monopole when the slow moving magnetic field of Cycle 24 merges with the magnetic field of Cycle 23? (Of course I expect a big solar explosion when this happens).

Dr. Dave Goldberg is suggesting that magnetic monopoles are dark matter although not all dark matter are magnetic monopoles:

If this is true and the Sun does become a magnetic monopole albeit temporarily, then we will see the Sun turn dark (or very dim). Will this be the prophesied 3 days of darkness?

Here's some info I posted in a 535 thread about a cool, dark sun...

AC 535 said it was pretty close to the truth:

And for what it's worth, 535 AD was a time when the sun dimmed, causing climate change. One hypothesis was that Krakatoa had erupted violently and its ash obscured the sun.

Another article suggests that the sun itself changed:

"Each day, the morning sunrise is taken for granted. Based on the laws of science, it is expected that the sun will rise each day from east to west. Yet, the question must be asked, “what would happen if the sun didn’t rise?” This was the case from AD 535 through AD 546, with the darkest days in AD 536.

I have been very quiet on this forum when it comes to solar activity, even though I watch it continuously and have for the past two years.

However, I have posed a question to those I deem sungods such as sickscent, OTOC and others of the like, and nobody has ever been able to give me an answer. I am no scientist but I would like to put my theory out there.

I am assuming this is coming from the emerging sunspot which has not yet been given a number and is referenced on spaceweather.com:

Here it states a significant sunspot group is emerging over the sun's eastern limb.

Over the past year I have watched as sunspot after sunspot fizzled out as it faced the earth. These same sunspots came to life as they were no longer facing earth, spewing solar flares and CMEs that were expected while the spot was earth facing. Most of the M-class and the two X-class flares we did have were moving away from the earth facing position when they finally decided to show their stuff. I have searched for the answer to this question on GLP for quite some time, with no answer from even the best.

As well, we continuously see storms and solar wind from coronal holes show up with extremely high velocity with little to no density.....over and over again. I know, many will come out and say this is normal, but I beg to differ. I have seen the magnetosphere simulation turn so white it was downright scary, but this last year has been a joke looking at the simulations and charts, even though many sun newbies are freaking out.

My take on this is that the recent lengthy solar minimum has created a weakened earth magnetosphere. I believe that the sun needs a strong earth magnetosphere to interact with to insure a true solar maximum loaded with fantastic sunspots that produce magnificent flares and CMEs and our magnetosphere is no longer in the game with the sun. Every living thing needs interaction - for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction (Newtonian physics). Of course in Quantum physics this is not the case, but I believe our planet still works mostly within Newtonian physics and we are moving from this set of theories to that of higher or more intellegent science.

Then we have the huge CME that blasted out a massive amount of protons a week or so ago. I am questioning this and have to wonder if this sunspot, not having the interaction with earth's magnetosphere, was burning a huge gaping hole in the sun itself, as if the section of the sun was dying. Yet once it began to move away from an earth facing position, it spewed a CME like a volcanic blast. I remember reading that the temperature of this blast had areas that were much cooler than that of the sun.

And then we have fluffy, the magnetic fluff, causing yet even more unusual interaction with the sun. Maybe fluffy is responsible for our lenghty solar minimum or our weakening magnetospher. I'll leave that to sickscent, however, as the resident GLP expert on this subject.

I know my theories are a bit archaic and elementary to say the least. I am a researcher but not a scientist by far - very much a novice. What I want to say to GLPers is that my theories, no matter how small, came from my own thoughts, coupled with the articles, opinions and ideas of people here on GLP. We are in a period of time in which even NASA is scratching their heads. They change their theories before we can come to terms with their previous ones. We need to work together to bring knowledge to each other, rather than the bickering shilling that goes on continuously. We are in some strange times and we have no one but each other. It would be a shame to let all of this group knowledge go untapped.

Nostradamus prophesied about the "lowering" of the Sun's brightness (which will be so dim, the Moon will not reflect its light), and associates it with famine and plague:
