If they can't defend their territory, without our help, against Argentina, of all places, maybe they deserve to lose the islands.

You're probably right. The UK's cutting it's defence budget by scrapping its only aircraft carrier, so no harrier jump jets, yet still acting like it's got an empire by throwing money around like confetti at foreign aid! Not a chance they could defend the Falklands.

Dumb or what? There are millions of Irish living in the UK and thousands of Brits living in Ireland. UK/Irish trade is really important to both economies. Why the fuck would we want to destroy each other?

Heres the stupid thing, the UK had colonized those islands before Argentina ever existed as a country. Argentinas claim to them is based on absolute bullshit, they want them for the oil and the fact they are close.

I think the British basically took them from the French or Spanish in the early 1800's.

Modern Argentina has only existed since 1880, as a result of the collapse of the Spanish empire and the civil war in that region between 1814 to 1876.

Basically the British turned up when nobody was there and everybody was fighting because of the collapse of the Spanish empire and nobody actually gave a shit about islands of nothing until Argentina got a sniff of oil and invaded in 1982.

People see the distance between the UK and the Falklands and Argentina and the Falklands and automatically think, they are closer ergo they are Argentinian.

The port is actually called Darwin, named as such 25 years after the Darwin visit.
