Anonymous Coward User ID: 1427819 United Kingdom 06/14/2011 11:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You're probably right. The UK's cutting it's defence budget by scrapping its only aircraft carrier, so no harrier jump jets, yet still acting like it's got an empire by throwing money around like confetti at foreign aid! Not a chance they could defend the Falklands. Quoting: TessHarrier Jump Jets can take off from cargo ships just like before. One or two atomic powered attack submarines is all England needs to keep the Falkland Islands speaking English like they always have. Exactly. The submarines alone could stop there being a blockade (I'm guessing one of them is in that area anyway, although the positions are classified, so there's no way to know). The Harriers could almost certainly be brought back into use if needed. |

We dont need US support, and we dont really give a shit if they give it or not. There would be a civil war if any government capitulated to "Talks" its our territory, and will be defended to the death. |
JoeNeubarth User ID: 1127812 United States 06/14/2011 11:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In WW-I, prior the Hollywood and Newspapers vilifying Germans, the majority of Americans supported entering the Great War against the British. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1427904The British, and specifically the City of London, have long been exploiting and attacking the USA and her best interests. I've never heard anything about this. Would appreciate any info or books you could recommend. That is not historically accurate. The Vast Majority of immigrants to the United States did not come to this country from England, Scotland and Ireland. They came from Germany, Austria, Holland, Denmark and Switzerland and the language they spoke was German or PlattDeutsch (German from the lowlands extending into Holland and Denmark) My family came from Denmark held lands but spoke PlattDeutsch. Most of these people had sympathy with Germany in WW-I, but did not want to go to war on their side. Some of my granduncles went back to Germany to fight on the eastern Front against the hated Russians, but most of my relatives stayed in this country. The average German cultured American believed that we should keep our nose out of the business in Europe. Wilson was strongly elected to his second term because he told the Americans that "He had kept us out of war." Once reelected, he got us in the war because he thought his "program" could assure universal peace. The war ended with our might of arms on the French and English side, but Wilson's peace efforts failed. 1st Place in Novel Sales for 6 yrs! [link to www.mobipocket.com] |

By original owner i mean the Spanish as they have a more legitimate claim to them than the Argentines. Not sure what you are suggesting otherwise. As pretty much no nation state that existed had citizens on that island before the British and Spanish. How can Argentina claim islands that existed as a colony of at least 2 other countries decades before it itself actually existed as a nation state. If anybody thinks they are Argentinian islands they are just being silly, but why doesn't everybody ask the people who live on those islands what country they are a part of? |
Atheist User ID: 1427856 United Kingdom 06/14/2011 11:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Pretty sure even Darwin stopped off there for a bit on the beagle voyage in the mid 1800's and said it was an island of savages and he couldn't understand why it was a colony. Quoting: Atheist 1427856And the funny thing was that all of those "savages" were English and Scottish colonists. I actually got the quote wrong but you are right, he said something along the lines of, its an island of criminals and murderers. Sounds like Australia, shit, maybe Argentina wants Australia too! Shit they have the same number of letters and both begin and end with the letter A. Its a conspiracy! |
Magus User ID: 1146695 United Kingdom 06/14/2011 11:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | all those isles should be reclaimed Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1424075just wait til the brits have a natural disaster or something then attack ireland too take your iland back from the Druid witch people but get your timing down Dumb or what? There are millions of Irish living in the UK and thousands of Brits living in Ireland. UK/Irish trade is really important to both economies. Why the fuck would we want to destroy each other? Ahh, went to ireland a few weeks ago, to BallyConnel, county Cavan. It was a great place. I loved it and felt more at home there then I do in the uk. You are lucky to live there. Are you north or south. I found north to be as depressing as the UK. |
JoeNeubarth User ID: 1127812 United States 06/14/2011 11:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If they can't defend their territory, without our help, against Argentina, of all places, maybe they deserve to lose the islands. Quoting: Revbo™That's bullshit that we're taking Argentina's side, though. Heres the stupid thing, the UK had colonized those islands before Argentina ever existed as a country. Argentinas claim to them is based on absolute bullshit, they want them for the oil and the fact they are close. I think the British basically took them from the French or Spanish in the early 1800's. If anybody has a claim its the original owner of the islands. The people who live on the islands are descended from settlers brought in from England. It was felt that they could build a sheep farming industry on the larger islands. Over the years these people have married with others from nearby countries, so they are not purely English-Scottish looking any more. In fact, a good percentage of the populace can understand some Spanish as they listen to music from radio stations in Argentina. 1st Place in Novel Sales for 6 yrs! [link to www.mobipocket.com] |

Anther point that you should bear in mind is that there have been great advances in weaponry since the 80s and Argentina lags severely behind. Also you caught us napping last time, this time you wont. Also it's our oil and it'll cost you $100 a barrel, or whatever the going rate is if you want any. Documents long ago have already made the situation clear. Britain will not bother with another war to retake the Falklands again. Instead, we keep a Boomer with EIGHT NUKES 24/7 off the coast of the Falklands. If Argentina invades again, next time we LEVEL THEIR ENTIRE COUNTRY AND BLOW IT INTO THE STRATOSPHERE.
