My first set of turnips are just about ready but I am going to leave them alone until their regular picking time to see if they get huge. Cucumbers are growing very quickly too. I planted another dozen tomato seeds just because I found them on the shed table. I soaked them last Thurs., put them in soil on Fri., and 5 of them were sprouting Sun. morning! All but 1 are up and growing, last one will probably be up tomorrow. It's going to be an interesting summer. |

This week is mixed light rain and sun and warmer. Put in some Giant Oriental Spinach and it just took off wonderfully! Of course, this is the first year we've tried it, so I don't know if it's unusually large. Snow peas are tall but no blooms yet. Sugar snap peas are hardy looking. Potatoes are really leafy, and tomatoes keep getting eaten by something. The plants, since they haven't even come into bloom either. Will have to keep on the lookout for other fast growers. |

Here's a local example. A farmer not far from me has had his beets grow into 17-20 KG specimens! He doesn't know why. We've been getting VERY large parsnips, carrots, courgettes/zucchini and leeks amongst other things, but mostly root vegetables. Another farmer down from us whose grown carrots for years sudddenly has a field of GIANT carrots - 2 to 3 times the size they would normally be. Really strange stuff. |

Seems like squash is affected whatever it is. "A sense of common interest can be fostered among individuals, if they know that they are inter-connected, are parts of one Organic System and are the sons and daughters of one Father. Here is the task of all religions; to teach people that all beings of the world are closely inter-related. Although steadfastness or firm belief in God (Nistha) according to some particular faith and eligibility of the individual is congenial for healthy spiritual growth of every individual, religious bigotry which begets enmity is condemnable, as it is against the real interest of the individual and society. Real religion teaches love for one another. Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu propagated the cult of all-embracing Divine Love which brings universal brotherhood on a transcendental plane. (Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Maharaja ) "If one loves Krishna, he must love Lord Jesus also. And if one perfectly loves Jesus he must love Krishna too. If he says, "Why shall I love Krishna? I shall love Jesus," then he has no knowledge. And if one says, "Why shall I love Jesus? I shall love Krishna", then he has no knowledge either. If one understands Krishna, then he will understand Jesus. If one understands Jesus, you'll understand Krishna too" (Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada - Room conversation with Allen Ginsberg, May 12, 1969 / Columbus - Ohio) Transmigration Of The Soul.
