I praise those who planned ahead and saved up their own money as to not be a burden on taxpayers and those who find a way to contribute to society. Those who made no plans and simply leech off the system need to learn the hard way about not investing in their future. Being old in itself is not a virtue and we owe nothing to the aged simply because they are older than we are.

We just don't need people who don't want to pay a dime in all their lives and then try to collect to the max when they get old. People should be smarter than to borrow money for a house and then put all their cash in the market...that's just dumb...borrow to invest in the market is basically what they are doing...they are gamblers not investors... So where are you supposed to put your money? In your mattress? Or the bank and earn like 1%? There are people who "gamble" in the stock market but I am talking people who bought conservative blue chip mutual funds and STILL got hammered. And how many people do you know who could pay cash for a house? You're just full of it. Like BRIEF said, there are endless ways to invest outside of hiding money in a mattress at home. I am managing to save several thousand a year by going without things like home phone and cable television and living in a place I can actually afford.
