If not, than kudos, but it only remains in our imagination as to if or if not, the deed was done.

If people can stop being selfish and truly think of what that kind of money can do for their life then incorporate that feeling into what it could for others more needy then the idea of pay it forward may start..
I have many needs and could use 5m but then I see others who needs are more that could better benefit from it.
Then I see replies where people would be happy with just a fraction of it.
This op is giving everyone a chance to make someone else's dreams come true.

You did read where others are in need that you could possibly help so why don't you?
Instead of giving a donation to the GLP Observatory why not choose someone to give to instead?
If we all chose to do one random act of kindness with the intention of the recipient paying it forward then we all are winners!
I hardly have any money but I do have time and two hands to work with.
My random act of kindness will be to help someone through those means and I know of an older disabled lady who is in need of working hands to help fix up her home.
She won't be able to pay it forward with money either but she will utilize her strengths to pay it forward in a way that will truly bless someone else.
We can all do that even without money!

Well i guess we are in the den of sceptics on this lunatic conspiracy fringe site...yet i think there needs to be an injection of a little more faith!

I was talking to my boyfriend last night about this thread and immediately he was sceptical! I was quite shocked really that the majority of people no longer believer in genuine generosity.

To the majority of us 5 million is quite a sum - but as i said to my boyfriend, there are also a huge amount of very rich folk who have obtained their wealtht through various means - some from rags to riches and alot of sweat - others through inheritance, investment, share-holding etc...

I know if i had even 15 million i would easily give away 5 million, it all depends on the lifestyle and plans of the individual.
If i had surplus funds i would want to find a worthy cause to donate to rather than a 'household name' charity that will sink the money into admin costs, maintenance etc..ie...it wouldn't really have much of an impact as it could to someone else who is able to improve alot of peoples lives directly with the funds.

I've always loved dreaming of what i would achieve if money was no object - i always come to the same conclusion though: invest in the things that enable me not to need huge sums of money annually to merely 'survive', and lead a MUCH better life also...and teach that way to others!

Money makes the world go round for the few...i believe in balance..the mindset needs to be balanced to realise one does not need to be mega rich to be happy. Those without money believe to have it would bring happiness - those with money realise there's alot of hassles in life due to having such a huge amount. No-one really 'wins'...yet we believe either side is 'better off' - it's quite funny really! :-)

So i do believe OP is/was genuine.
Maybe we'll never find out - it doesn't really matter - it's quite inspiring to spend the day with your hands (literally) in the dirt planting small saplings thinking of what one could achieve with a large sum of money. It's given me soooo many ideas and injected huge amounts of even more determination!

And I'd like to add. Regardless of whether this thread is bunk or not. It's full of WIN for the simple fact that it allowed us to pause for a second and consider the possibilities. So I for one would like to thank the OP, whether legit or not. I had some very good news today regarding my work prospects. In some way I contribute the positivity this thread generated for this success.

An elderly lady i know is extremely generous yet she has little in terms of wealth to give. For over a decade i have witnessed her show so many acts of pure selflessness, giving and kindness....and she gets it all back...the kindness in various way comes back...i'm convinced through knowing her and her sister that there is a universal balance.

They've been an inspiration to me and i too try to give in whatever way i am able...i've huge dreams, very little time - found it hard at first to give give and give some more - but making the time, and effort - i know it sounds corny - but it truly pays off.

It's the kind of thing that cannot be verbalised- you just have to practically engage in 'giving' in whatever way you're able and you'll soon see the rewards DO come.

Agree it's testament to a positive vibe which helps us all attract the things we need - as the OP said a while back - never give up - we ARE powerful to achieve our dreams even IF right now the sitation looks bleak - mindset - positivity...it's powerful. Try it to KNOW it.

I'm a dreamer. So by default of always thinking about others first it didn't take this thread to outline my plan of action should I'd been given 5million $$$.

We all should pause for more than a second, and whether daily, weekly or monthly, think about how bad others truly have it so that WE, individually can appreciate the little things most of take for granted.

Things like the air we breathe (notwithstanding Fukushima)
the food we eat (notwithstanding the GMO's and pesticides)
and for the simple fact you can reach out to perfect strangers and just smile, and hug them.

Christmas doesn't come once a year, and neither does dishing out random acts of kindness without a reason behind it.

Just my devalued 2 cents!

If it had been me, you'd know it, without knowing it was me.

Others would be posting how they were contacted anonymously so their mortgage could be paid off, or a surgery paid for, a new car purchased, etc., and of course, you'd see all the (nice) posters in this thread with upgraded accounts for a year.

So I think it's possible that we'd still end up knowing some day if the recipient is one who'd want to help others as he or she had been helped.

This was done for several reasons. And the people I was suggested to give it to, just didnt seem right, so I came here.

And btw. It is not too late. I will tell you this. That one of you here now are going to be doing the same thing. Slightly less then 5mil, because they will use some to better them self. So it is not to late.
