Already have a plan in case of windfall:

Purchase beautiful rural acreage and create a retreat/production center for video artists/animators. It would work like a business, partnering with video artists to create positive themed content (not lame, but positive)in a beautiful natural surrounding. Would be a 'video commune" so to speak and would also boast its own wacked out awesome 24 hour satellite television network based on the work of the video artists and cheaply licensed awesome content. A network that is anti-TV that speaks the truth subliminally through awesome entertaining and weird content seen nowhere else. The network would eventually be licensed by broadcasters and satellite/cable providers and eventually begin to generate its own income. That and an awesome facility in the beautiful mountains, with endless outdoor activities and fun.

I'd say give glp 500,000 since they only asked for 250,000. And I'd tell the OP to nut up or shut up already.

I really don't know what I'd do with it. I own my own home, a small cabin in the mountains, and our vehicles are paid off. They are old, but paid off and run just fine. I don't care about material things much anymore.

Being able to buy medical insurance so my husband can get his health problems resolved would be nice, but other then that, I'd give it all away.

I'd love to have an animal clinic where people who can't afford it can come to get free veterinary care. There are many social services out there for people, but none for animals. That and a farm for unwanted animals of all kinds that could live there and be cared for until for the rest of their natural lives.

That's another thing I thought about (while I was spending too much time thinking of what I would really, really do.)

My dog died recently because I couldn't afford the surgery she needed. There was nowhere to turn for assistance. There's no animal Medicare or anything. And you can't go to the emergency medical hospital here and get treatment and make payments later like you could with a human. You have to pay an initial intake fee up front, then they consult with you about what type of treatment you can afford.

I couldn't believe it. This beautiful young dog, so full of life and happiness is dead because she bit off the end of a Nyla bone that got trapped in her intestine and the only people who could save her life would not do so without cash up front.

So, I didn't think of actually creating a clinic, but I imagined going into the local vet (who told me as the dog was dying to take her to the emergency hospital since I had already given them all the money I had for treatment so far, knowing I couldn't get her help there either) - so I imagined going in there and asking them to setup an emergency funds account for anyone who came after me with similar circumstances - a pet who would die for lack of money - and when it happened, draw from this fund that I would put at least $10,000 into. I only needed a few hundred to save my dog's life, so I figure 10k could save a lot of animals, and spare a lot of humans the heartbreak I and my children went through for lack of a few hundred bucks.

It's nice to see that someone else thought of doing something similar. Not that either of us can do anything about it - but it's on my list of things if I ever have a best-selling novel or win a lottery.

Bitching about my perspective when most people who already have homes, cars, and running water/electricity would just pay off debts that THEY incurred due to selfishness and the gotta have it factor when people are starving? It is sad that so many of us on here are genuinely struggling to put food on the table and pay bills..

I honestly wouldn't know what it would be like to have a couple thousand dollars in my pocket.. Let alone millions

The only time I have ever had close to that much , was when the utility company had a huge surge go through the power lines, and affected everyone on our block. It damaged my computer and tv at the time, and I think I got around $1500 at the time after the deductible from my parent's insurance..

I am very lucky I have parents who give a damn. If it weren't for them , I would be living in a cardboard box in an alley somewhere.. They have a small storage building next to their house, that they let me turn into living quarters .. I help take care of them, and I pay my parents $75 per week partially for rent as well as to help out on the utilities I use and I pay half on the internet and phone bill... Another $50 ..

So I have $125 in bills going out weekly, and only make between $150 and $200 ..

Then by the time I keep gas in my truck, and buy what little food I can afford , I am left with maybe $5 in my pocket..

I have been trying to get out on my own again for a long time now, but at my current job I bring home after taxes, anywhere from $150 to $200 /wk depending on if I get 25 hrs or if I get 35 hrs . Most of these places only want part timers, so they can get out of having to give full-time benefits... They would rather have everyone be part time to save them money .. or so it seems..

So as you can see,for me there is no possible way to get ahead.. I am literally stuck .. I make it a point to fill out employment applications online daily.. But nowhere seems to be hiring.. I would do ANY job, I don't care what it is; whether it is shoveling crap, wiping butts in a nursing home, flipping whoppers... you name it, if it's a legal and legitimate job , I would do it ..

I just don't know what to do... What can one do, when the effort is put out every single day to gain better employment and get ahead? yet nothing.. The only way I have extra money in my pocket is if I donate plasma twice weekly.. which I only get $55 weekly from that..

My dream is to be out on my own, and have a home I could actually call my own..Even renting a place.. and to somewhat have a life.. To find myself a girlfriend , one day get married and have children..

But at 36 years old, I just feel I am getting older and older, poorer, and that I will never have a home and a family.. It really is depressing as hell... I don't want to get old and die alone.... and in some poorhouse... I'd like to find myself a woman before I am too old to attract one..

As it stands now, I mean who is going to want to get with a guy with a crappy job, and nothing to offer them?

If something drastic doesn't happen in my life soon, I fear my life will have been wasted.. I just wish I could find a good job or 2 and be able to have some semblance of a life...

That's why it makes me so sick to see a few of the responses here, when there are people in here who genuinely
NEED help.. Not to waste on crap, but to be able to at least live and take care of themselves/family..

Use the 0.5 mil needed for my environmentally sound business start-up to employ about a two dozen locals, eventually expanding to a second location. After two successful locations, the business model would change to a co-op and expansions thereafter would continue as co-operatives. The balance of that 0.5m would be used to expand my organic farm as well as develop a grade school level, non-profit farming program teaching children how to compost and grow food.

The other 4.5m I wouldn't want and would have to graciously refuse it.
