No, we were freed from marrying another god (which is what Israel did, Read Hosea) Once you divorce your first husband and marry another, you can never come back. It's an abomination. (Deut. 24:1-5) SO, YHVH could NEVER have Israel come backto H-m unless HE found a way around this Law. IF your prior husband dies, you are FREE from the Law of the prior Husband. Thus the Messiah making the covenent for Abraham while he slept was able to Fullfill this part of The Law so Israel and anyone else could come back to H-m even though they deserve death.
