Take about 1/8 of a teaspoon in a glass of juice. You can take more as needed, but if you take too much, you'll get the shits. Other than that, there are no risks or side effects. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1401809 United States 06/19/2011 02:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Symptoms of Magnesium Deficiency? What are some of the symptoms of magnesium deficiency? They are outlined beautifully in a recent article by Dr. Sidney Baker. Magnesium deficiency can affect virtually every organ system of the body. With regard to skeletal muscle, one may experience twitches, cramps, muscle tension, muscle soreness, including back aches, neck pain, tension headaches and jaw joint (or TMJ) dysfunction. Also, one may experience chest tightness or a peculiar sensation that he can't take a deep breath. Sometimes a person may sigh a lot. Symptoms involving impaired contraction of smooth muscles include constipation; urinary spasms; menstrual cramps; difficulty swallowing or a lump in the throat-especially provoked by eating sugar; photophobia, especially difficulty adjusting to oncoming bright headlights in the absence of eye disease; and loud noise sensitivity from stapedius muscle tension in the ear. Other symptoms and signs of magnesium deficiency and discuss laboratory testing for this common condition. Continuing with the symptoms of magnesium deficiency, the central nervous system is markedly affected. Symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity and restlessness with constant movement, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and premenstrual irritability. Magnesium deficiency symptoms involving the peripheral nervous system include numbness, tingling, and other abnormal sensations, such as zips, zaps and vibratory sensations. Symptoms or signs of the cardiovascular system include palpitations, heart arrhythmias, angina due to spasms of the coronary arteries, high blood pressure and mitral valve prolapse. Be aware that not all of the symptoms need to be present to presume magnesium deficiency; but, many of them often occur together. For example, people with mitral valve prolapse frequently have palpitations, anxiety, panic attacks and premenstrual symptoms. People with magnesium deficiency often seem to be "uptight." Other general symptoms include a salt craving, both carbohydrate craving and carbohydrate intolerance, especially of chocolate, and breast tenderness. [link to www.mbschachter.com] |

I know a lot of people are saying potassium, but Americans with their western diets are much more likely to be deficient in Magnesium. I used to have horrible muscle cramps and spasms until I figured out I was deficient and took supplements. It made a world of difference. Good luck, OP! |

Well it seems whatever you are doing about it isn't working at all, so be afraid to try new things. Sounds like the physical manifestation of stress to me. IF I had your tension issues, I would try: - Yoga (it really works) - most importantly learn HOW to breathe properly, most Westerners don't (don't laugh - fact) - Get a hammock and read a favorite book - Eliminate as much of your debt as you can, preferably all of it, including house debt - slavery is stressful. I know you mentioned to not say things like "smoke some weed", but 100 million users (or whatever it is) must find something enjoyable about it. Menawhile, the FDA kills 10,000 people on Vioxx........ |

I've lost a little weight, have more energy and my complexion is notably better. I LOVE bacon and eggs but don't miss them. I figure I'll "splurge" and have a bacon and eggs about once a month as a treat. Eating healthy will go a long way. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1220210 United States 06/19/2011 03:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you take magnesium and potassium together it is more effective because magnesium increases the absorption of potassium (and thus you won't need to take as much potassium to feel better). You should feel some relief within an hour or so after taking it. **I know this because I suffer from low magnesium & potassium levels myself. What has really helped me a lot (and I am serious here) is watching the Quantum K healing vid you can find in the OP in this thread: Thread: You have to try this healing technique " Watch this video" it's like going to a hypnotherapist. Quantum K healing!!!! You can see links to my testimonials on page 21 of that thread. |
