Re: Thread to discuss CURRENT events at Fukushima Nr. 2
I am just going to chime in here and let everyone know that mr Atom Boy over here is an admitted TEPCO shill. Nothing he says can be trusted. Fukushima will make Japan uninhabitable in 50 years or less end of story. Any day now they could have a catastrophic failure and that 50 years might become 10 or even 5. That is really all you need to know people. Hope and pray it doesn't have an effect on the rest of the world that is about all you can do.
 Quoting: Komi

If Tepco dont give a shit about the mess theyre making in Japan, then they sure as hell dont give a turd about people posting on this web site....trust me, non of of you are that important.

I think we all are familiar with the young Boy
who warned about a Wolf but the Wolf never showed up
until the Wolf showed up in Reality and the Lad
try to warn again but No-one listen to him anymore!

I think Cp Threads are the same and when the bad Day
comes all the People are tired of his Messages
and do not React anymore because they experienced
that Cp was always wrong in the past!

This is the real Danger,
we saw that he and many other here
do not know about Daiichi,
he never showed any form of
knowledge about the whole ongoing Process,
so don't believe anything from him,
but you can trust Waterbug
because he know something,

"The government says no major accident will occur if they are protected from tsunami, but it is another (groundless) safety myth about nuclear plants."

How does this make any sense whatsoever?

"The government says no major accident will occur if they are protected from tsunami" (right, nothing will happen from ANYthing if it is protected from it. ffs...)

"but it is another (groundless) safety myth about nuclear plants." (groundless? so the tsunami damage of 2011 was purely fictional...and yes of course, to generalise about people saying nuclear is bad because of tsunamis makes us all fucking stupid... What a dumb fucking statement)

I just want to correct one Statement of Mr. Talkaloto:

TEPCO seeks to reduce groundwater flowing into reactor buildings
The operator of the crisis-hit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant said Monday it aims to halve the amount of groundwater flowing into the reactor buildings by building about a dozen pumping wells.

The groundwater currently gets mixed with highly radioactive water accumulating inside the reactor buildings and adjacent reactor turbine buildings, resulting in an increase in the total amount of contaminated water at the plant.

Tokyo Electric Power Co. thus wants to use the wells to direct part of the groundwater into the Pacific Ocean, likely to be about 1,000 tons per day, before all of the groundwater flows into the reactor buildings and elsewhere.

The utility known as TEPCO would check the contamination level of the groundwater before releasing it into the sea.

Work on leakage-prevention wall at Fukushima plant fully in progress
The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant said Wednesday that work is now fully in progress to build a wall along the Pacific coast, where the nuclear complex is located, to reduce the risks of further contaminating the sea with radioactive substances.

The wall is intended to prevent highly radioactive water accumulating in the plant's reactor turbine buildings from leaking out into the sea by getting mixed with groundwater, although Tokyo Electric Power Co. believes that such an incident is unlikely to happen.

26 years on: helping Chernobyl's children
wenty-six years ago this week, a botched reactor safety test in a corner of what was then the Soviet Union set off the worst nuclear accident in history.

The radiation effects of the April 26, 1986, reactor explosion were about 400 times more potent than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II, and nearly 14 times greater than the disaster last year at the Fukushima plant in Japan.

Fast forward to today, and even in the exclusion zone, plants have re-grown, animals are flourishing and Chernobyl has been opened to tourists.

But Chernobyl refuses to be relegated to the past. Indeed it may still be devastating the lives of millions who continue to live in the fallout zone.
---
More than 200,000 people were evacuated, never to return. However, a 2005 report by "The Chernobyl Forum" (the most comprehensive to date) estimated more than 5 million remain in what have been termed "contaminated territories," and a quarter-million live in "highly contaminated territories."

Tracking Fukushima’s radioactive dust
The incident contaminated an area of more than 100 km diameter with radioactive materials, releasing 10-20% of the radioactivity of Chernobyl. Yamauchi and colleagues used measurements of atmospheric electric field at Kakioka, 150 km southwest of the plant, in combination with a radiation dose measurement network and soil samples to assess dust transport.

With a sad Video!

Tracking Fukushima’s radioactive dust
The incident contaminated an area of more than 100 km diameter with radioactive materials, releasing 10-20% of the radioactivity of Chernobyl. Yamauchi and colleagues used measurements of atmospheric electric field at Kakioka, 150 km southwest of the plant, in combination with a radiation dose measurement network and soil samples to assess dust transport.

oh your "friends at TEPCO".. (God bless their little cotton socks), are NOW?!?!? building a wall in the sea?... fuck i feel safe now....

"The radiation effects of the April 26, 1986, reactor explosion were about 400 times more potent than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima during World War II, and nearly 14 times greater than the disaster last year at the Fukushima plant in Japan."

and yet you stated in many posts that they are illogically dis-similar? Bi-polar much?

atom boy... continue to re-educate..... you are a loose cannon, and paid far to much as a shill in my understanding....

Gov't seeks locals' consent for restarting Oi nuclear reactors
A senior vice industry minister on Thursday sought local approval for reactivating two idled reactors at the Oi nuclear power plant in the town of Oi in Fukui Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast.

At a gymnasium in the town, Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Mitsuyoshi Yanagisawa told residents that safety measures have been taken at the plant to prevent a severe accident even if the reactors were hit by an earthquake and tsunami comparable to those that triggered the Fukushima nuclear crisis.
---

The town office sent invitations to about 3,200 households and received applications from 713 people.

Work begins on ‘mausoleum’ for worst nuclear disaster, 26 years on
TWENTY-SIX years to the day after the world’s worst nuclear disaster, Ukraine yesterday began construction of a vast new metal shelter to contain the stricken Chernobyl reactor.

The 20,000-tonne structure, big enough to enclose the Statue of Liberty, is due to be completed by 2015, allowing the delicate and dangerous job of dismantling the reactor and cleaning vast amounts of radioactive waste still around it to begin.

“The Chernobyl disaster underscored that mankind must be extra careful in using nuclear technologies,” president Viktor Yanukovych said at the commencement ceremony. “Nuclear accidents lead to global consequences. They are not a problem of just one country, they affect the life of entire regions.”
---
Preparatory work has been under way since 2008. That included cleaning up the assembly site, replacing contaminated soil, and then putting it in concrete, which now enables employees to work without special radiation protection.

And Tepco released one more time the following Statement:
We affirm that the Reactor Building and Spent Fuel Pool of Unit 4 will not collapse in the event of an earthquake
The upper part of the Reactor Building of Unit 4 was damaged due to a hydrogen explosion. We confirmed the items below and affirm that the building, including its spent fuel pool will not collapse should another earthquake occur.

1) We measured the distance between the water surface of the spent fuel pool and the floor surface of the building, and confirmed that the building has not tilted.
2) Our analyses show that the building, including the spent fuel pool, will not collapse even if an earthquake equivalent (seismic intensity 6) to the Tohoku-Chihou-Taiheiyou-Oki Earthquake occurs in the area.
3) In addition, we have improved the seismic safety margin by 20% by reinforcing the bottom of the spent fuel pool.
4) We will regularly check the reactor building and the spent fuel pool four times per year to confirm their soundness.

* Please refer to the attachment for the details of 1) to 4).

PS: the Seismic Scale is in "Shindo",
please research by your self!
