fish disapeared from lake...
Only 2 Japanese pond smelt caught from 3 days test fishing in Haruna lake Gunma

On 1/22/2013, Fukushima Diary reported “Japanese pond smelt gone nearly extinct in Haruna lake Gunma, can’t even find a sample for radiation test”. [Link 1]

By the third day of their test fishing, it was still only 2 samples that they managed to catch by up to 20 fishers. The test fishing is to be ended on 1/24/2013.

The second sample was 3 years old, probably young fish have gone extinct for some reason.

@ Cploerb,

are you able to understand what you had posted?
Doubtful!!!

There are no Melt-Throughs,
the Coriums are inside of the big Vessel and in
the case of Nr. 1 inside of the Saddle
but the Corium is not in the open Environment
or outside of the Security Vessel or Building!

The
nuclear fuel in three of the reactors at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear
plant has melted through the base of the pressure vessels and is
pooling in the outer containment vessels, according to a report by the
Japanese government.

The Pressure Vessel is small and not well protected,
but yes-the Corium left this Pressure Vessel,
but this PV is inside a much bigger protected Vessel,
maybe you need to study a bit!

Japan faces nuclear shutdown for second time since Fukushima
Japan may face a total nuclear shutdown in the summer for the second time since the March 2011 Fukushima disaster as the country's two operating reactors close for maintenance and tough new safety checks keep the rest of the fleet offline.
---

"It is unlikely that any of the idled reactors will re-start prior to September due to ongoing investigations of seismic issues at certain plants and due to the fact that safety standards have still not been finalized by the Nuclear Regulation Authority," said Tom O'Sullivan, a Tokyo-based energy consultant.

meltdown

Occurrence in which a huge amount of thermal energy and radiation is released as a result of an uncontrolled chain reaction in a nuclear power reactor. The chain reaction that occurs in the reactor's core must be carefully regulated by control rods, which absorb neutrons, and a moderator, which reduces their energy. If the core becomes too hot, it can melt, releasing large amounts of radiation. See also Chernobyl accident.

you quote 2003 ?????

WAY before current events!

1. MELT DOWN is when the nuclear rods dissipate. react and form a corium within confinement

2. MELT THROUGH is removal of said elements down ie: corium into containment cemented below (as final containment), and in breach of primary containment....

3. further corium collates as a glass like substance that "hopefully will pool as a tar like layer dependent upon heat and conversive reactivity"....

read what i posted.. and call me a liar again.... liar.. the truth is your government AND tepco refer to the disaster as a MELT THROUGH...... you still owe me a beer... I want a XXXX thanks

N.Korea: Nuclear test targets US

North Korea has issued a statement that strongly suggests it will carry out a third nuclear test.

The National Defense Commission says it will carry out "high-level nuclear tests and more long-range rocket launches targeted at the United States." The statement was released on Thursday by the state-run media.

The North's top military body denounced the UN Security Council resolution condemning the country's rocket launch in December.

Prosecutors question former TEPCO executives

Japanese prosecutors have questioned 2 former executives of Tokyo Electric Power Company in connection with the 2011 nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant.

Sources have told NHK that the 2 are TEPCO's former chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata and former president Masataka Shimizu.

The prosecutors are believed to have asked them to explain what kind of measures their company had taken against tsunami risk and how likely they had predicted such an accident would be.

Toshiba, GE to expand tie-up in thermal power

Electric power giants Toshiba and General Electric are expanding their partnership, aiming to cash in on rising global demand for thermal power.

Japan's Toshiba and GE of the United States say they reached an agreement on Thursday to explore the formation of a joint venture. The tie-up will develop and sell thermal power generation systems with increased fuel-efficiency.

The partners say they have yet to decide on details including the division of ownership. They hope to launch the venture by the end of this year.
