Anonymous Coward User ID: 10410912 Sweden 02/10/2012 08:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | US approves 1st reactor project in 34 years US nuclear regulators have approved construction of nuclear power reactors in the country for the first time in 34 years. The 5-member Nuclear Regulatory Commission voted 4 to 1 on Thursday to approve a plan to build 2 reactors at the Vogtle plant in the southern state of Georgia. Commission Chairman Gregory Jaczko cast the dissenting vote, citing safety concerns. The reactors, called Unit 3 and Unit 4, were designed by Westinghouse Electric, which is majority-owned by Japanese electronics maker Toshiba. Construction could begin this year. If all goes well, the reactors are expected to start operation in 2016. [link to www3.nhk.or.jp] . |

A working group at the state agency has compiled a report on enhancing safety at the country's nuclear plants. The regulatory agencies in charge of these facilities all LIED! The governments of the nations where these facilities were located all LIED! The companies that built and operated these facilities all LIED! Radiation has spread all over the world from these accidents and are affecting every living thing, causing mutations, diseases, and deaths, and will be for many many years! Fukushima had three reactors that went into meltdown and exploded, releasing all sorts of radioactive materials! Somehow they traced these materials via air currents and Tennessee was the place where the highest concentrations ended up, besides the 30 mile exclusion zone around the reactors, and other places where the wind blew it! How many bird dies offs were reported in that area of the US? They died from radiation poisoning! The people that run and control this death inducing industry have maintained an air of secrecy around these nuclear facilities for years, and they want them to continue to exist, and to build new ones, because they need them to make nuclear weapons and maintain their nuclear weapons stockpiles! Generating electricity is a secondary concern! |

However the difference in the daily maximum temperatures at the high-point on Feb 6 and today is only 3.4 degrees (73.3 minus 69.9). Also note, while the daily high temperatures are lower, the daily low temperatures are higher and climbing. Not a good sign. Whether TEPCO will be able to lower the Unit 2 temperature back to the less than 50 degree range it was at prior to the piping change remains to be seen. Whether they will be able to lower the water volumes also remains to be seen. At the rate the temperature is dropping it will be weeks, if they are successful. [link to www.pacificfreepress.com] ~ |

The council will send a letter of support along with a copy of a 1982 city ordinance that supported San Clemente 30 years ago in requesting stricter safety measures when Unit 1 at SONGS was shut down due to malfunction after only 46 days in operation.
