TEPCO starts removing fuel from Fukushima Daini reactor
Tokyo Electric Power Co. showed to the media on Tuesday its work to remove fuel from a nuclear reactor at the Fukushima Daini plant, the first time to do so after a huge earthquake and tsunami hit the complex and crippled the Fukushima Daiichi plant in March last year.

The plant operator known as TEPCO plans to remove 764 fuel assemblies inside the No. 4 reactor to the spent fuel pool located next to the reactor. It will also check whether there is damage inside the reactor by using an underwater camera.

Who did the Stuxnet? Final Episode

To the best of our understanding , "Stuxneting Iran" started during the last year of Bush with a secret finding, that is no longer a secret. The fund and order, created a program in CIA to dismantle, disarm and cripple the Iranian strategic infrastructure, while politics are doing its own work. CIA suddenly tunneled a lot of money and agents into the region, which resulted in sudden raise of operations in Iran and respectively, Lebanon.

TVO Seeks EUR1.8 Billion From Areva-Siemens
Finland's power group Teollisuuden Voima Oyj, or TVO, Monday sought 1.8 billion euros ($2.32 billion) in claims from French nuclear engineering company Areva SA (AREVA.FR) and consortium partner Germany's Siemens AG (SI), for costs related to delays in the construction of Finnish nuclear reactor Olkiluoto 3.

Building work started in 2005, and was initially scheduled to be completed by 2009. Late last year, it became clear that the reactor wouldn't be connected to the power grid until 2014.

Two S. Korea nuclear reactors shut down
SEOUL (AFP) - Two South Korean 1,000-megawatt nuclear reactors were shut down Tuesday at separate plants, both as a result of unrelated systems malfunctions, operators said.

The state-run Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) said there was no apparent danger of a radiation leak at either reactor -- at Yeonggwang on the southwest coast and Shingori on the southeast coast.

Nuclear Firms Seek Eased Export Rules as U.S. Demand Wanes
The U.S. nuclear-power industry is seeking to ease export restrictions so it can sell equipment and technology to nations including China and Russia as domestic demand wanes for reactors.

U.S. rules are “more complex, restrictive and time- consuming to fulfill” than in France, Japan, Russia and South Korea, where competing suppliers are based, according to the report. The global market may be worth a quarter of a trillion dollars within a decade.

Florida Senator Mike Fasano voiced concerns about both the risks and high costs of repairing the nuclear plant.

He worries that the plant isn’t insured for enough money and that costs could be passed on to consumers.

“So we’re talking billions of dollars to fix a problem that Progress Energy created,” Fasano said. “And who’s going to fix that?”

Government officials warn Fukushima reconstruction funds not being used on critical projects
Japan’s finance ministry has started reviewing the criteria used to review subsidy requests for reconstruction programs after many government officials point out that funds are being spent on projects little related to reconstruction work.

“To be honest, I cannot approve the way (some of the reconstruction funds) has been used,” Reconstruction Minister Tatsuo Hirano said at a recent news conference.

The 2013 Fiscal Year budget has placed no limit on reconstruction expenses following the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and while the funds are being used, the majority of the contaminated debris from the Fukushima nuclear disaster remains to be disposed of, and no final permanent storage plan has been approved of.

An investigation by NHK, revealed that substantial portions of the Y19 trillion fund is going to promote the whaling industry, to train prison inmates in regions outside of the disaster zone, and even to fund nuclear research by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency.

Dr. Oransky said he expected the rise to continue in the near future. He and his co-author, Adam Marcus, have been scrambling to keep up with new cases of fraud.

In July, for example, the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists reported that Dr. Yoshitaka Fujii had falsified data in 172 papers. Most of those papers have yet to be officially retracted. “They’re headed for the fraud pile,” Dr. Oransky said.

the sad thing is, and quietly, you live in a doomed society.. if you don't have children, i suggest you don't start.... let us go back to fact rather than everyone yelling fiction around.. the reason we "contain" nuclear fuel is that we know it is deadly.... we watched the "china syndrome" for the "ohhh ahh" factor... you are now living in a highly (and still climbing) nuclear affected environment to the which we have never seen nor prepared for..... go grab a tissue and stop lying.. defend yourself for the truth.. it will hurt...

NRA to closely monitor Fukushima decommissioning
Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority will designate the defunct Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant a special nuclear facility so that it can be involved in its decommissioning process.

Procedures to scrap the plant are being carried out in line with a plan submitted to the government by its owner, Tokyo Electric Power Company.

The Nuclear Regulation Authority, the new nuclear regulatory body that was launched last month, currently has no say regarding the plan.

TEPCO begins removing spent fuel at Fukushima Daini plant
FUKUSHIMA — Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), the operator of the stricken Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plant, has begun removing the fuel assemblies from the Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant’s fourth reactor.

According to TEPCO, all four reactors at Fukushima Daini, which is located around 11 kilometers from Fukushima Daiichi, automatically shut down after the March 11 disaster. TEPCO has been working on “repairing” the reactor, which it says involves removing spent fuel assemblies, each containing bundles of fuel rods, by crane and placing them into a pool of water, TBS reported Wednesday.

TEPCO says the work on reactor 4 has been proceeding faster than the other reactors and that it plans to remove all 764 assemblies by Oct 24. Media were invited to the plant on Tuesday to observe the process.
