Lithuanians reject nuclear plant project
Nearly two-thirds of Lithuanians have voted against a proposal to build a new nuclear power plant.

The country's election commission announced on Monday the results of a national referendum on the plan held in tandem with parliamentary elections.

The commission says results from 95 percent of ballot-counting stations show that 65 percent of voters have rejected the plan, compared with 35 percent in favor.

The Baltic nation has been importing 80 percent of its energy supply from Russia since closing down a Soviet-era nuclear power plant 3 years ago.
