Decision on Oi nuclear plant faultline postponed TOKYO — Experts have postponed a decision on whether a faultline underneath Japan’s only operating nuclear plant is active or what to do with the facility. A five-member team commissioned by the Nuclear Regulation Agency inspected the Oi plant in Fukui Prefecture on Friday to examine a suspected faultline there. Two of Oi’s four reactors resumed operation in July for the first time since last year’s nuclear crisis triggered by a quake and tsunami that hit another plant. The experts agreed Sunday that part of Oi’s underground structure slid as far back as 125,000 years ago but couldn’t tell if it was because of an active faultline or a landslide. They will meet again on Wednesday. [ link to www.japantoday.com] .
