Details: Three Nobel Peace Prize Laureates - Barack Obama, Aung San Suu Kyi and Lech Walesa - inspire with their words the third edition of the International Composition Competition "Instruments of Peace", organised by the Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti (Peace Bell Foundation) of Rovereto, Italy: music as a means to promote peace and dialogue among nations, in an historical era marked by issues and tensions, to make the deafening and frightening"instruments of war" go silent.

Lech Walesa - Nobel Peace Prize 1983 Laureate - presented the competition in Rome , confirming his presence at the final concert to be held in Rovereto on July 6th, 2012, with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Michel Tabachnik.

The President of the Jury is Ivan Fedele, one of the most important European composers. The Jury is formed by four other members: Vicepresident Mauricio Sotelo, composer; Commissioner Detlev Glanert, composer; Commissioner Tadeusz Wielecki, composer; Commissioner Marcello Filotei, composer and art director of the competition.

Instruments of Peace is the only composition competition, open to young composers from all over the world, to propose peace, dialogue, hope and forgiveness as sources of musical inspiration. In this edition participants will have to refer to three quotes extracted by speeches given by three Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.

The final concert will take place at Miravalle hill, in Rovereto, Italy, on 6th July, 2012, and will be broadcasted live on Rai Radio 3 and offered to the European Broadcasting Union circuit. A brand new composition by Ivan Fedele, commissioned by the Foundation, will be presented during the concert, together with the winning composition.

The competition is open to composers of all nationalities who are forty (40) years old or younger on 30th April 2012. Each composer may participate with as many compositions he or she desires to submit.

The winner will receive a cash prize of five thousand euros (5,000).
