The so-called "Al-Quaida" is an illusion created by the US CIA, by way of extension of the official name they gave to their operators during the Soviet-Afghan war, circa 1979-1989.

There is no such thing as an independent group of Islamic extremist "terrorists" who are operating under the name of Al Quaida.

In Arabic, Al Quaida means "The Base" and is slang in many Arabic-speaking nations for "The Toilet." It figures, because it is a name that was concocted by US military intelligence and it is indeed true that "military intelligence" is a contradiction in terms. Sorry but that is fact. And the US military has for well over a century gone into foreign lands and renamed things there, such as "Hamburger Hill" and "Checkpoint Charlie" and on and on. Names like that may work for American grunt soldiers who are the boots on the ground but they fail miserably in foreign lands.
