First, let me say that I'm NOT a doomtard or anything like that. But I DO find it a little odd that the following two messages were recently released.

The one from NASA Administrator, Charles F. Bolden, where he talks about NASA having recently participated in a FEMA exercise called Eagle Horizon which is a "continuity of operations in government exercise," which is done annually according to Mr. Bolden. Then he goes on to talk about "being prepared" in case of an emergency.

The other was a June 9th announcement from FEMA and the FCC revealing their plans to conduct a nationwide EAS test that will involve ALL broadcast radio and TV stations, cable television, satellite radio and television services and wireline video service providers across all states as well as the territories of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa. They're doing this because they supposedly want to work out the bugs in the system.

Again, I'm not necessarily saying that something is up...I'm just saying...it's just a little strange, that's all.

From second link:

“It is also important to remember that the Emergency Alert System is one of many tools in our communications toolbox, and we will continue to work on additional channels that can be a lifeline of information for people during an emergency.”

I don't think they are suggesting impending doom. I just don't think they want another Katrina. They failed there and don't want a repeat.
Most of us here are well aware of what is needed in case of a natural or man made disaster. Their are still millions of others who are not one bit prepared and don't think it can happen to them.
The government as been trying to get folks to prepare for years and I seriously think very few listen. They are the ones that will need to be rescued.

I agree pretty much with all of this. I just find it a little peculiar that NASA would come out with such a message, and that this huge nationwide EAS test announced. To my knowledge, even the local tests were never really announced that they were going to happen beforehand. I could be wrong though.

Their was a drill done a couple of weeks ago in my area. They where practicing for incoming injured from the mid west that had just had a major earthquake. I was going to post it, but I thought all the doomtards would freak out. I seems my area is one of the locations that will receive the injured if this event should happen.

Yeah we have local/regional drills like that too. It's the whole national thing that is weird to me. It's just a timing thing I guess. But with the Earth acting like it's been recently and everything else going on..it can make you wonder sometimes.

Look at the date of the planned EAS test, 11/9/11 lol

National Test of EAS Scheduled for Nov. 9

Several U.S. government agencies have determined that Nov. 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. EST is when the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will be conducted.

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have agreed to conduct the national test of the EAS—which may last up to three minutes and 30 seconds—on that date.
